We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Young-Holman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tina, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want to make my legacy about loving people unconditionally. In business you can go further if you love what you do and people. Always show interest for what you do in spite of it being not reciprocated. I’m building relationships to show entrepreneurs and businesses that Collaboration over Competition works every time if you are sincere about it. Business owners know we all have something to bring to the table. That’s why I let God lead me on this path. God is a leader in my life, business and I follow his lead and by my example it encourages others to do the same. I found my tribe wasn’t family and friends but that’s okay and I know it’s not necessary to win. I hope the example I demonstrate and the love for being a servant leader is an example of God’s love and one of my biggest qualities to build my business and lead my clients to success.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m what you would call a “serial entrepreneur”. I have my hand in a lot of things but my main two: Black 2 Black Consulting is a business consulting for all businesses but mostly caters to minority businesses that need help to navigate the process to start and grow a business. Black 2 Black Magazine is a business magazine where businesses get a chance to demonstrate their expertise and get visibility in the US & Globally. I’m an author to bring more exposure to my business and my story experiences. #1 Best Seller & International Best Selling Author with 3 books. I’m a Speaker who motivates the audience through my experiences by telling you to have the audacity to reach high and go make it happen. I have a retail merchandise online store which was my first business when I became an entrepreneur but now have advanced to other things but still included. So growth has been genuine throughout my journey and storyline. I’m a person that believes in Collaboration over Competition and we all have our special sauce to bring to table. My challenge has been getting noticed but I found a way to change that by doing articles in magazines, podcasts, etc. So networking has been a good source of leads so just a mindset shift change has been a promising change in my business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Find the hottest restaurant in the city which has many to choose from . Go to Komedy Lounge, Bar 5015, Creole Kitchen and Daiquiris to name a few places. I would go to a good movie and out to eat. I’m not a clubbing person. So a comedy show, movies and out to eat for some entertainment. If one of their favorite artists was performing in a concert I would take them to the concert.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe all my success to God, motivation to do more because I have a son, I want him to see his mom strive for her dreams and follow in my footsteps by making his own dream a reality. My mom is my biggest cheerleader and she supports me in everything. She was diagnosed with dementia and still she tries to purchase my books, etc. God has always been my source of knowing I can do all things with him leading the way. His love surpassed all understanding and grace throughout this journey that I know for sure. I’ve had stumbling blocks but my Black 2 Black tribe has given me encouragement and has kept me on my journey of course. No where I want to be at this moment because God is blessing me but in my mind I’m heading to a new direction. Coach MT (Mignon Thomas) is one of my coaches and she has given me the drive to go live out my purpose and I have a lot to offer so go do it. Ah! moment for me.
