We had the good fortune of connecting with Charles Brantley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charles, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I think I’ve always been destined to attempt direct business with customers. For me, a business can be a lot like art in that you have to bring the formless, intangible, and obscure into the physical realm. Your job is to make it real and that requires creativity. Creativity happens to be a quality about myself that I a proudest of.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am excited about my business because it is centered around using my art to help customers express themselves. I have gotten where I am today because I continue to bear the brunt of the challenges in my reality and have not given up yet. “Overcome”? I’d like to look at overcoming as a state of mind and not a state of being. Once we have it in our hearts, we’re soon to have it in our hands. I want the world to know that I am one of many alchemists that seek to transform thought value from the formless into a type of tangible matter. Brantley Decor is my modest way to help my visitors use the physical wall-art piece to express the pride in their names and themselves. I say modest because there are more physically significant ways to do this, however, I believe even in this modest offering visitors can find joy for themselves. I will continue to aspire to scale-up these offerings to my customers in the attempt to improve their quality of life. In the laws of momentum, you’ll find that in order to advance, the currently used energy must be spent. You must work with what you’ve already got. And, that you should not have to wait to be “ready” or “approved” to begin. My mantra is “Go, Ready, Set” And actually, should “Set” should have a question mark behind it?
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them on a museum tour over the course of a week. Albeit, it would have to be much, much cooler for me to want to do that. I’m not a fan of the Houston heat. At. All. You know, I like to be unconventional with where I take people. There are restaurants in the galleria dept. stores. I would take them to those lounges or restaurants that are right inside of Saks Fith Avenue for a drink. From there, I think I would want them to check out the lovely Jazz that is being performed across downtown. The thing is, covid 19 is really killing all the enchantment behind that. At this point, I think we’ll all have to be satisfied with a nice social distancing walk in the park…In the fall of course. Not in the summer. That’s crazy.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
You’re right! As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t have had the encouragement I needed without my beautiful wife. Of course, there are other inspirational entities I could refer to. However, her belief in me and my potential has always been a driving force behind my ventures. My family will always inspire me to advance.
