We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Coupland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business was a decision deeply rooted in my passion and drive to help people, and desire to create something meaningful. I’ve always been drawn to the idea of being in control of my destiny and making a tangible impact on the world around me.
Throughout my career, I gained valuable experience and skills, but I also felt a growing sense of limitation within traditional employment structures. I craved the freedom to innovate, to build something from the ground up, and to pursue my vision without constraints. I have owned a business before, and after being open 8 years it was closed due to covid. It was heartbreaking for me. Now I am a published author and a social media influencer who accidentally started a social media management business!
Moreover, I identified a need in the market that I believed I could address uniquely. This coupled with my skills and expertise in this area, fueled my entrepreneurial spirit. I saw an opportunity to offer a solution, service and product that could genuinely benefit others, and I felt compelled to seize it. Truly though it kind of just fell in my lap.
I was hesitant at first because of my past experience, but I was prepared to put in the hard work, to learn from setbacks, and conquer. It’s a journey filled with uncertainties, but it’s also incredibly rewarding to see my vision come to life and make a positive impact on my community.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been a social person for as long as I can remember. I just love talking to people and meeting new people, but most importantly I love helping people. No matter how big or small the task. I feel what sets me apart is that I have both the knowledge, and the reach that people need, but also the drive and passion to do whatever it takes. It has not been an easy task to manage working a full time job, being a mom and running a business full time as well, but it is incredibly rewarding. I want my clients to know that I want success for them as much as they do and I really appreciate feeling like a part of their team.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
La Porte truly has so much to offer. There is a beach, a lot of cute shops like Whimsy’s, Vicki’s Antiques, Junk Junkies and Dimensions Comics! There are also a lot of places to choose to eat from such as El Ranchero, Ed’s Bistro, El Toro and the amazing food trucks at Main Street Food Truck Park (KB’s Kitchen, Be Cool Be Calm Eats, Dang Dat’s Delicious). There are a lot of photo opportunities such as murals by local artists, and beautiful landscapes! Main Street in La Porte is really growing!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to credit my amazing husband, in-laws, my Dad, and all of my friends and clients who have encouraged me and pushed me over the last year to pursue my dreams. I have truly had an amazing support team and I wouldn’t be where I am without them. And to my first client, Main Street Food Truck Park who took a chance on me and helped me reach this point.
