My father, Sherman Armstrong. He raised me as a single parent after the untimely death of my mother. In the 1960’s a man raising a little girl alone was not easily or socially accepted. My father encouraged my creativity, and free spirit. He talked to me like an adult and impressed how important education, determination and perseverance were to succeed in life.
