We had the good fortune of connecting with Cheryl Haseeb, DNP-FNP and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cheryl, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The key to the success of Pura Medical Aesthetics and Aesthetic Nation Institute (ANI) lies in our belief that we no longer need to be the guardians of knowledge and information. This era calls for abundant thinking. We have moved beyond the idea of hoarding information to maintain a competitive edge. As we say, “collaboration over competition”. I firmly believe that there is ample space at the top, and by empowering others to grow and succeed, we only strengthen ourselves.
When it comes to aesthetics, I’ve come to appreciate that beauty truly lies in the perspective of each beholder. What one person finds appealing, another might not. Each individual client embraces its own vision of beauty, attracting clients who resonate with that aesthetic. At Pura, our focus is on enhancing the natural beauty of every individual who visits us, respecting and preserving their unique features. I advocate for a subtle approach in my interactions with clients, ensuring they feel empowered and confident. This philosophy is instilled in my staff and trainees, fostering a shared commitment to celebrating and enhancing each individual’s natural beauty. Our goal is to enhance the natural beauty and rejuvenate one’s features to truly help them radiate and age better.
As Pura grows across different areas of Houston, now opening a second location in Memorial, and Austin, Texas, I am certain that our brand will remain inclusive, welcoming individuals of all creeds, colors, and backgrounds. Each person can confidently pursue their path towards success, radiance, and beauty, carrying this positivity wherever they go. We are the spark that helps create that light, brightening this planet one client and student at a time!
What should our readers know about your business?
I grew up in a small town in Arkansas as an only child to a single mother. Growing up being the tall, skinny girl with features that didn’t fit into society’s idea of pretty caused me to question my worth for years. I never thought I was unpretty and awkward until others started telling me I was. I can remember being bullied relentlessly because I would come to school with hand me down jeans and a home perm, when perms were the rage. I would hide at lunch and cry because I didn’t look like everyone else. It was not until later in life, that I realized that my personal journey in aesthetics as a consumer was based around searching and seeking acceptance externally so I could fill a void from my childhood. After spending over 50k in both surgical and nonsurgical treatments that I began at the age of 25-years old, I realized my aesthetic journey was solely aimed at fulfilling a wound that was caused 15-years prior. It was at this point that I decided that aesthetics was not about fillers and botox, but rather to help others’ see the natural beauty that each individual has. I draw on my childhood and early adult years to relate to others. I know what it feels like to see yourself through the lens of rejection and inadequacy. I want to help others feel incredible in their bodies and skin, so that they can alter the impression they have of themselves so that they can walk proud of who they are and be the best they can be, without the notion that they are less than amazing, handsome and beautiful. Maybe in some small way, as we help others, we heal the damage in ourselves.
The future ahead is radiant! With recent recognition as a Center of Excellence by Merz and our partnership with Venus Concepts, alongside the accreditation of Aesthetic Nation Institute, I see boundless opportunities unfolding. I envision my dream expanding into a successful business venture for anyone passionate about entering the aesthetic industry. My goal is for the Pura and ANI brands to flourish globally. We have recently secured a collaborative agreement with world renowned key opinion leaders in regenerative aesthetics and are set to host one of the first global summits in facial aesthetics in Houston, Texas.
I am committed not only to advancing my own expertise but also to nurturing the growth of those journeying with me, confident that this dedication will bring abundance. My guiding philosophy, “Never the gatekeeper of knowledge; instead, share it with all who seek it,” I hope will set a precedent in a field where such openness is rare but so needed.
As a mother of three boys, a wife of 16 years, a daughter, a friend, and a businesswoman I have found that creating a work/ life balance to be the most important piece of advice, I can offer, to any who would love to venture into the world of owning a business. Achieving balance is a delicate art. Every entrepreneur understands the challenge of maintaining equilibrium between the drive for business success and fulfilling personal obligations to family and friends, all without succumbing to burnout. In the early days of my career, fueled by eagerness and ambition, I wrestled with finding this balance and respecting boundaries. There were times when I neglected my own well-being and my family as my business flourished. As a mother, I grappled with managing “mom guilt” and struggled to decline requests, fearing my clients and friends might look elsewhere.
It was through candid conversations with my husband and trusted friends that I recognized the crucial need for balance. What catalyzed this transformation? Understanding my self-worth. I’ve learned to appreciate my time, especially the precious moments with my children, husband, and close circle of family and friends. I now confidently say “no” when necessary, knowing my clients respect and value our relationships with Pura and ANI.
Having trustworthy individuals who offer genuine feedback is vital to maintaining my sanity and achieving a healthy work-life balance.
I aspire to inspire other small-town girls who, like me, may have faced bullying for being different. I want to empower others to forge their own path in the realms of beauty and business. Beauty is being bold and confident in your own skin and knowing your worth.
