We had the good fortune of connecting with TaKeesha Breed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TaKeesha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was driven by a deep desire to help girls discover their true identities in Jesus Christ. I wanted to provide a platform that supports and guides young girls in making healthy choices about their faith, academics, friendships, and career paths. Through my business, I aim to create resources and programs that empower girls to navigate the challenges they face and grow into confident, faith-filled individuals. By addressing their spiritual, emotional, and practical needs, I hope to foster a strong sense of community and purpose among the girls I serve.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a teacher to prenatal and postpartum teenagers, a role that holds deep personal significance for me. As a former teen mom, I have a heartfelt desire to give back to my community by encouraging young mothers to set and achieve their goals, particularly the important milestone of graduating high school. My own journey was far from easy. I completed my education while being an active mother of 12 children, 8 of whom resided in my household most of the time.

My faith in God and perseverance were pivotal in helping me overcome the many challenges I faced. Through sheer determination and divine guidance, I completed college and attained the necessary certifications to become an educator. One major lesson I learned along the way is the importance of seeking the Lord’s guidance in every decision. Everything in my life—both the good and the bad—has been used by God to shape my present and future. Romans 8:28, which states, “All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose,” has been my life motto for years.

What sets me apart from others is my firsthand experience and empathy as a teen mom who has navigated the challenges these young women face. I am most proud of the positive impact I’ve had on my students’ lives, helping them to see their potential and encouraging them to pursue their dreams despite the obstacles.

Professionally, my journey has been arduous but incredibly rewarding. I overcame challenges through unwavering faith, relentless perseverance, and the support of my community. The most significant lesson I’ve learned is to always seek God’s direction and trust in His plan.

I want the world to know that my story is one of resilience and faith. Everything in my life has been used by God to shape who I am today, and I am committed to using my experiences to inspire and empower others. My brand and story are about overcoming adversity, trusting in God’s plan, and helping others achieve their full potential.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give special recognition to my good friend and sister, Yameskia Sandles, for extending the opportunity to mentor girls through the YMCA Afterschool Program. Yameskia provided me with full autonomy in creating the program and offered the necessary resources to help it thrive. Her trust and belief in me have been instrumental in our success. I am deeply grateful for her support and the confidence she has shown in my vision and capabilities. Thank you, Yameskia, for your unwavering trust and encouragement.
