We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexia Sitaras and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexia, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I’m an oracle, healer, and retreat facilitator that specializes in helping people in their relationships.

What this really means is expanding how people experience their relationships. What some might not realize is that each relationship, romantic, familial, friends, colleagues, your relationship with your body, with your work, etc. are a direct reflection of how much each person loves, accepts, and believes in themselves. Improving your relationships begins by improving your love, awareness, and connection from within.

When you heal yourself, you begin to heal the world. Building more love and confidence from within gives you more capacity to share that and love others.

Beyond the general desire to cultivate strong and healthy relationships, having close relationships, more than money and success are shown to create more happiness throughout life. Satisfaction in relationships has been shown to delay mental and physical decline, and is a better predictor of long term physical health than even cholesterol levels. So work in relationships, over time, begins to improve every aspect of your life, including physical longevity.

The core mission of the work I do, and the retreats I facilitate is to help people genuinely live better, have transformative adventures and experiences, enjoy leaving their comfort zone, connect people who wouldn’t be connected otherwise, have more fun, and stop taking everything so seriously. Your life is meant to be LIVED!

It’s the most gratifying when I get messages that one of my retreats gave someone the incentive to travel by themselves and now have a new perspective on life, and deeper confidence. It’s amazing when my clients are thriving after a breakup they never thought they would get through, or how they now get asked out on a date every time they leave their house. I really enjoy connecting people to the magic of their own existence and the romance of the story of their life.

The journey that’s been labeled as “healing” gets to be more a practice of living really fully and really well.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is a global mission to open people’s minds to the perspective that their lives are a unique, beautiful, dynamic piece of art – especially the dark, icky, painful parts of their story. It’s what creates meaning and depth for the beautiful parts of their story. My clients and students create romance in every part of their lives. BECOMING and BEING *the one* instead of “finding the one”.

One of my favorite parts about what I do is opening people’s eyes to the fact that EVERYTHING in life gets to be a healing, growing, and moving experience when you’re self aware.

The main thing that set my business apart is at the core of all the work we do and the retreats we run, we prioritize authenticity.

It sounds a bit cliche these days, but what I mean by that is when we get to work together, you’re not finding some new “healed” version of yourself. You’re just finally allowing all the unique parts of yourself that you thought you had to hide be seen and celebrated. The world needs to see more of your freak flag flying, trust me!!

I pride myself in running what I unofficially call my “Not Your Basic B!tch’s” retreats, because it’s not the average retreat you typically go on in Greece or Sedona (our current locations). We only travel to places where I have heritage or have lived like a local myself. My family is Greek, and I currently live in Greece half the year. For a transformative period in my life, I also had the privilege of living in Sedona, Arizona. In both locations, we visit non-touristic places, experience the hidden gems, the true culture, lifestyle, and connect to the other locals. We revere the ancient and native lands, and have a more authentic experience.

I want people to come on retreats with me and experience what it would be like to be hosted by a friend or family member. I keep them smaller and intimate so the retreaters can make deeper connections with one another. Of course we do healing work and yoga, but so much is just living the lifestyle, seeing something new, reducing your mental load, being cared for…I often feel like when I host, I embody the archetype of a cool Greek mother (everyone must eat!! Are you ok?? Can I help you be more comfortable?? Also…time?? What’s that? We’ll start morning yoga at 8/8:30…as we need…) My Greek roots and spirit certainly influence my work and how I run retreats. I believe it allows more room for magic to occur in our days together.

The Greek mentality and lifestyle is so healing, open, warm, and I find it brings so much comfort and aliveness to our adventures whether in Greece or stateside.

Another facet of authenticity is how my clients learn that they can deeply heal by sometimes royally messing it up (texting their ex, getting wildly drunk, getting in a blowout fight with their family or loved one….whatever you THINK is messing it up) – “messing it up” is actually providing an even better opportunity to heal. (be feral…within reason)
The darkest parts of our stories, our biggest insecurities and struggles are actually the seeds to deepening our capacity for love, acceptance and security within.

My clients create an impeccable understanding and relationship with their body. With this, and the freedom to live fully and make their own decisions without guilt, shame, or judgement, they realize which ones actually feel aligned. When you love yourself from within, texting your ex that can’t make a commitment stops feeling as exciting and attractive. Old unsupportive habits become something you genuinely don’t want to do anymore because you can no longer ignore your body’s cues. And when you do slip up and make a misaligned decision, it’s just as simple to redirect yourself without judgement.

I teach people HOW to love themselves, which will look different for each person and their priorities, and is an ever-evolving practice, not a destination.

I’m really passionate about not putting healing in a box. The healing journey has been made “trendy”, with matcha powders, specific morning routines, red light therapy, pilates….all great, but with or without this, people heal so much more when they just more fully embody who they are. Rules around relationships or what healing should look like actually keep people from listening to their body’s intuitive process.

I’m not sure if it’s the black sheep in me, or if it’s another way my Greek roots influence my life and how I help people, but my core mission is to help others enjoy life well and not take it so seriously.

In my own story, the things that healed me the most were the non-conventional things, the decisions I made on a whim, and the positively illogical pursuits. In the midst of one of my greatest heartbreaks, what started as me running from my problems by traveling constantly eventually became the greatest self discovery and confidence builder. It connected me to people who changed the trajectory of my life. (And of course also became an important aspect of my work and expertise) Sometimes the genuine fun I had and memories I made partying all night on the Greek islands with my cousins, something I learned about myself on the random night I had with an Italian man I could barely communicate with, or going through a dumpster fire of a relationship (consciously, of course) were more healing than using a gua sha my face and going to a yoga class.

Fully living life gives you every opportunity to learn more about yourself and make it an incredible piece of your story if you decide to approach it that way. So the mistakes we make, the heartbreaks we endure are some of the most important pieces of the puzzle…so why not go all in and love yourself even more not despite the ways you mess up or get hurt, but BECAUSE of it.

We put less focus on “fixing” for the desired outcome of healing, and more focus on creating the most beauty and love in every corner of yourself and your story.

And THAT is where the magic and the art occurs!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When it comes to Houston, it’s got the culture and the FOOD!!

We would start the day with a workout – my personal favorite studios are Defy Pilates in Bellaire, Texas (shoutout to Danna Gadalla – I literally rearrange my schedule to take her classes), and StudioBe for yoga and/or pilates.

Along the same vein, I ALSO follow Rajesh Sekhar wherever he goes – whether yoga or kirtan, I have driven an hour just to get to his classes. He is one of the most brilliant souls I’ve had the privilege of learning from!

A MUST visit is always Anonymous Cafe – run by Greeks, and the only place in the Houston area to get a good frappe or freddo espresso, and great Greek food.. Not to mention the vibes are immaculate, and it feels like a European coffee shop. If you are Greek, you will ALWAYS run into someone you know as well, so it will boost your extrovert serotonin as well 🙂

From there I would go thrifting and perusing antique shops in the Montrose area to also enjoy the art, graffiti and vibrant energy of the neighborhood.

I would then go on a walk through Buffalo Bayou (with a coffee or tea from Catalina in hand, and maybe a few other local snacks and goodies from Henderson & Kane the local convenient store) because the city skyline still seduces me after all these years!! It’s like our mountain range in the flat concrete jungle of Houston.

I always make an excuse to grab a sweet treat at Awesome Bites – delicious desserts that are made with quality, vegan ingredients but don’t taste like it.

Lunch or dinner at Maharaja Bhog for authentic Indian food – you sit down, give them any of your dietary restrictions, and they just fill your thali endlessly until you’re so happy you could die!!

Evening time, we have to let the intuition decide, but I do enjoy Anvil or Julep!

Other than that, if it’s a Thursday, I enjoy going to the museums because it’s free admission. My favorites are the Museum of Fine Art, and the Natural Science Museum.

A picnic at Menil Park is also TOP. Amazing shade, and sweet animal watching. A great place to relax, read, do some yoga…whatever comes to you!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All the people from various parts of the world I had the privilege of studying with (master healers from Mexico, Germany, Thailand, Canada, London, Greece, and more), and possibly even more importantly, the people who broke my heart, because they inspired my deepest healing 🙂

And especially the people I’ve had the privilege to serve – I would be nothing without you!
