We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamekah Bost and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamekah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
At the time, my main thought process was financial stability. I was working in the medical field, and although my position was safe, the hospital that I work for laid off 700 people and it kind of really put a fear of instability in me which encouraged me to focus on starting a business to sustain my life if I ever happen to lose my job.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the proud owner of a Philly Food truck now located in Houston. I open My Business in 2018 with a very unique concept of classic Chinese takeout with a Philly twist overtime. It has grown into a unique comfort food establishment. What sets us apart would definitely be the passion and love that I put into my recipes and my overall work ethic. I truly believe in the work that I’m doing and feeding people is one of the most important jobs. Any person can have providing nourishment is an honor. And I am so lucky to be able to make a living doing something that I love

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, if my best friend was flying into Houston, I would pick them up from Bush Airport and take them directly to Elderson Brewery and get a flight of craft beer and grab a bite to eat from my Food Truck of course because I’m sure they will be starved after their flight. Following that we would check into their hotel change and then hit the town. There are so many things to do in this wonderful city you can’t go wrong.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When it comes to being an entrepreneur having a strong support system or even just one individual who believes in you is deeply important for me that was my father. He was so encouraging from day one and he always saw the vision.
