Meet Sheldon Collins | Drone Operator/ Videographer/Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheldon Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sheldon, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk is at the core of creativity and growth. In my career as a videographer, photographer, and drone operator, taking risks has been essential, whether it’s pushing creative boundaries, investing in new gear, or stepping into an uncharted territory to capture a one of a kind shot. The best visuals/content comes from being bold, from seeing opportunities where others see obstacles.
Starting my business was a leap of faith, but I knew that staying in my comfort zone wouldn’t get me where I wanted to be. Every risk I’ve taken, whether launching projects with no guarantee of success, working with new creative concepts, or flying my drone in high-stakes environments has led to lessons, connections, and breakthroughs, and I am beyond grateful.
Risk isn’t about being reckless; it’s about trusting your vision, adapting when things don’t go as planned, and always striving for something greater. Without risk, there’s no innovation, and in this industry, standing still isn’t an option.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My Business & What Sets It Apart
My business is all about storytelling through visuals, whether it’s cinematic drone shots, high-quality videography, or striking photography. I specialize in capturing unique perspectives, blending creativity with technology to produce content that stands out. What sets me apart is my ability to bring an artistic and immersive feel to my work, ensuring that every project, from commercial shoots to various types of reels, to recording events, tells a compelling story.
I take pride in pushing creative boundaries, using innovative techniques, and embracing Houston’s culture in my work. But more than that, my work is about showing love to what people love, and showing up for everyone when they need me. Whether it’s helping an artist bring their vision to life, capturing moments that matter, or simply being there to support others through my creativity, my business is built on connection.
The Journey & Challenges
Getting to where I am today was anything but easy. Like any entrepreneur, I faced obstacles, whether it was investing in expensive equipment, building a solid client base, or proving my value in a competitive industry. On top of that, balancing my business while working full-time has been one of the biggest challenges. It requires discipline, long hours, and a relentless drive to keep pushing forward.
The real reason I started my business was because I was going through some things, and it kept me looking to the sky. I started with a drone first, and that perspective, seeing the world from above, gave me peace, purpose, and a new vision for my life. One verse that has always stuck with me is Psalms 19:1-2:
“God’s glory is on tour in the skies, God-craft on exhibit across the horizon…”
That verse reminded me that there was something bigger than my struggles, that beauty and purpose were always there if I looked for them. What started as a way to escape became a passion, and eventually, a business.
I overcame challenges by constantly evolving, networking with like-minded creatives, and never being afraid to take risks. Every setback was a lesson, every challenge an opportunity to improve. I learned that in this industry, consistency and originality are key, staying ahead means always refining skills, embracing new technology, and keeping a fresh perspective.
What I Want the World to Know
My brand is built on vision, creativity, and storytelling. I want people to know that my work isn’t just about capturing moments, it’s about creating experiences that leave an impact. Whether I’m working with artists, brands, or businesses, my goal is always the same: to elevate their vision and bring it to life through stunning visuals.
For anyone looking to chase their passion, I’d say this: success doesn’t come from playing it safe. Take risks, stay dedicated, and never stop creating, no matter how busy life gets. And when times get hard, just keep looking up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Houston, I’d make sure they experienced the city’s energy, culture, and food the right way.
First, we’re eating good, The Savoy on Emancipation is my favorite spot in Houston. They’ve got the best vibes in the city and some of the best food, guaranteed.
We’d explore Buffalo Bayou Park, the Houston Graffiti Building, and, if there’s a big game, we’re pulling up for the Astros, Rockets, or Texans.
Oh, and we can’t forget, we’re pulling up to S.L.A.B Sunday to see the trillest car culture in the world ride down the boulavard.
But beyond the places, it’s the people that make Houston special, the creatives, the entrepreneurs, the dreamers. Houston isn’t just a city, it’s a vibe, a movement, and a culture all its own.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, all glory goes to God. Everything I’ve accomplished, every opportunity I’ve been given, and every creative vision I bring to life is because of Him. My journey hasn’t always been easy, but through every challenge, He has guided my steps, kept me grounded, and given me the strength to keep pushing forward.
I also have to give credit to my family for their love and support. They’ve been there through it all, pushing me to keep going, believing in my vision even when I had doubts. Their encouragement has meant everything to me.
