In our experience, most folks, including ourselves don’t have enough of an understanding of risk and the role it plays in our lives and careers and so we have made a concerted effort as a team to have conversations about risk with our interviewees. We’ve shared some highlights below.

For me, the biggest risk I’ve taken is starting my own business. It’s so many things that go on behind the scenes of every business owner that no one knows about. From clientele to crunching numbers, late nights and early mornings , it’s a very complicated task, but I love it. It’s given me the freedom to express myself through my work. One thing I know for sure about life is that we can’t escape risk. It’s always there, in some form. Throughout my career, I’ve taken many risks—whether it was leaving a stable job to pursue a better quality of life or applying for positions I didn’t necessarily qualify for, hoping for a financial boost. Those were big risks. Personal life decisions, too—like jumping into homeownership just six months after finishing grad school.
