Meet Slummy Charms | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Slummy Charms and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Slummy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Initially there was no process behind my company. I’ve always had an admiration for assisting others and providing them with resources to be successful. At first, I didn’t have a name, price or thorough idea of what I was offering or who I was offering it to. Over time and realizing the success of this “hobby” I decided to take the time to research and rebrand my company. I used a year to gain more knowledge and create an actual business plan. I am proud to announce my company Haute Hustlers which is a business consulting firm for professionals in the beauty industry who are looking for a way to grow and expand their company in a way that displays couture, poise and resources that provide opportunities. The grand opening will take place on January 12, 2026 and I am so excited for the journey of this new beginning!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always love these kinds of questions! I am very excited for my new project Loving You, which will be available December 6th on all platforms. The project is what I consider to be more vulnerable. I feel excited with this project because of the growth and confidence it has given me. It allowed me to reflect on what I was going through in real time and realize I deserve better and can absolutely do better so the energy that’s portrayed is 100% me, when I am in love I love very deep but when I am over it…it’s a wrap! And I feel I as if I have gotten where I am today by remaining consistent. I feel that is so cliché to say but it’s the truth. With the amount of work I have released over the years I have received recognition from different projects. However, no matter the consistency it’s never easy. No matter if you’re an established star or a rising one you still go through life and its misfortunes. I have learned to overcome that by taking control of what I have control of. I’ve also learned of the power I possess. Performing, movies, videos, writing, and releasing music has built my name and helped me grow a very supportive community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a very intimate being. I rarely do large crowds or parties because at times it can be overwhelming but also because I like the up close company of others. If they come during this time of year [autumn] I would take them to Zoo Lights, it feels magical to me. I love The Burger Joint we would definitely have to go there and stuff our bellies. If we talking the kind of drinks that have you walking sideways when you leave Los Cucos is my spot their food is also good but the drinks are a one and done type of concoction and I’m not complaining. Take a night ride to watch the Houston skyline and listen to Paul Wall, Slim Thug, J Dawg, Z-Ro, Kirko Bangz and chopped and screwed mixes. A nice pool day to enjoy the sunshine and breeze. For a fun wild night out go to V Live and ball until we fall.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thank you so much to Takisa Govan, owner of Kisawisa Braids, my first official client before the rebrand [of Haute Hustlers]. She gave me the confidence I needed to take more control of my business and helped me in creating standards for my company, setting prices for services and overall helped me realize what I wanted the company to become versus what it was. She allowed me to learn as we worked together and just do my own thing-she trusted me whole heartedly to basically guide her towards the right resources for growing her company. In this time, there was an increase in her clientele, she won the 3rd round grant award for Cécred by Beyoncé (on behalf of my company) and received opportunities to expand. Thank you Kisawisa Braids for trusting me and my vision.
