We had the good fortune of connecting with Dai Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dai, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have had a great corporate career but I always felt limited in my potential and my desires to work with people. I wanted to build something greater that I can have full creative control over. I love organizing and finding solutions for others and with my own business, I’m able to do that. I come from a family of entrepreneurs so I know what it takes to start and grow a small business. I also have experience that I bring from my corporate job into my business that has served it well.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As professional organizer and designer, I specialize in helping my clients find practical, efficient and simple solutions to their disorganizing challenges. What sets Simplicity By Day apart is that, I am the secret weapon for entrepreneurs, professionals and homeowners transitions from clutter and chaos to simple and organized. I have a proven 4-step process that work with all spaces for home and office. Starting and growing my business in the last year has been challenging due to the Pandemic, but I’ve learned to pivot and connect with clients in new ways. I’ve enhanced my virtual services, offered flexible packages, increased my online exposure and started seeking out more virtual speaking opportunities. As a mother of young kids, a full-time professional, a wife and now entrepreneur, I know first-hand what being organized is a necessary priority in life but I also know it takes work to get there. My message and mission is for other mompreneurs, busy sales professionals and working parents that if they want to have it all, do it all and enjoy life, a great path to that life is through having an organize life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
IF my best friend was visiting my city, I would be super excited because we both have young kids and just to get away with each other for a week, would be amazing. I’d plan for us to spend some time in the city part and the beach/coast part of my town. We’ start off by booking a my favorite hotel in the Galleria area, and I’d plan each day to hang out in a different part of the city to shop, spa day, plan a little photoshoot, fun activities such as top golf, skydiving, fitness classes, visit some museums and eat at all the cool restaurants. Then we’d check out and head to an AirBnB near the shore and have more of a chill end to the week where we’d go fishing, on a boat tour, visit the NASA space center, the amusement parks, hang out a the beach and the Piers. We’d spend time indoors watching movies and drinking wine and sleep in. I love my city and there’s so much to do, from cultural and adventurous to the diversity of restaurants and shopping experiences. Because I know she love variety and these types of trips are few and far between these days, I’d make the most of it so she had a well-rounded experience. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes! Shout out to my coach and mentor, Toni Harris Taylor! She is a community builder, master networker and sales and marketing coach. She has helped me grow my business leaps and bounds beyond what I could have done on my own. She helps so many other entrepreneurs across varies industry to get known, get connected and get paid!
