We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanni Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeanni, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
To alway be patient and never up. No matter how hard things get you have to push and try again until you succeed.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Please tell us more about your work. I offer permanent makeup, bridal makeup, and skincare services. Whether it’s a special event that you want to look your absolute best or if you want permanent makeup where you can just wake up and go, or if you just need to refreshen your skin, I do it all – it’s a one stop shop where I can personally advise and recommend what is best for your skin. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others. Everyone says this, but I absolutely LOVE what I do. If I can make someone feel beautiful on the outside, that alone makes them feel beautiful on the inside. Especially when your clientele is based on referrals – that tells me I succeeded – I made that person feel not only beautiful, but I boosted her self-esteem, I gave her that boost of confidence . Not just women, but some of my clients are men.
What you are most proud of or excited about. I just recently finished training in Vegas on new techniques. One of the techniques is called “Foxy Liner”. It’s a soft liner with a slightly feathered wing at the end…looks very natural and excited to add another service to the menu.
How did you get to where you are today professionally? I always loved the beauty industry regardless what it was – makeup, hair, clothes, etc…My mom strongly encouraged that I enroll in beauty school. I was hesitant because I was still young, but I did it anyway. I was then able to save up and I opened my own nail salon. Although the nail salon was successful, I wanted more. I started looking into other classes like facials, makeup, permanent makeup, and laser and I fell in love with that world. I eventually closed the nail salon and started JN Co from the bottom up. It started with one happy bride and here I am.
Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? Getting to the goal of any career is NEVER easy. There will always be road bumps. I just have to remember that I am in control of my career. I can not stay focused on those bumps. I have to get past it no matter how hard it gets and focus on the end goal.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way? I’ve learned to be patient and not give up. Any success doesn’t happen overnight. Success only happens with hard work and determination. There were so many times where I wanted to give up thinking “maybe this isn’t for me?”, but I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. Also, surround yourself with positive people. You’d be surprise what negativity can do.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? Beauty is constantly changing, so I am always trying to stay current. Everything is catered individually based on your skin and shape. This is not a job to me. It’s so gratifying that I’m able to make someone feel beautiful on the inside and outside. JN CO isn’t just about beauty, it’s about boosting that inner confidence, that self esteem. It really is a rewarding job.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would probably drive down the coast of Florida to see all the wonderful beaches. Try out all the food and just relax at all the spas. I’m more of a calm and relax person so no clubs or bars just relaxing atmosphere.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say my mom was my biggest supporter, mentor and I thank her every day of my life and success because of her. She always push me and knows exactly what I was capable of. I wish she was here today so she can be proud and so I can thank her.
