The Coronavirus has given many us an opportunity to pause and think about life, our purpose, and even the right work life balance. What’s your perspective and has it changed over time?

When we first started our family, I took maternity leave, and then returned to work as a marketing professional. During that period, I was engaged heavily in advancing my professional career and as a new mom, I had little time to devote to my artwork. As our family grew (we now have three children, ages 4, 6 and 9), my professional goals were less important. I became a full-time stay at home mom. Overtime I’ve learned true peace comes from balance. I learn that life is about constructing your world based off your interest. One of the main things i focus on while pursuing my dreams is to make time for myself. I balance dedicating at least an hour engaging into something that brings my positive energy regardless of what i’m going through. I even choose a day through out the week that’s strictly dedicated to pleasing my needs without focusing on the stress of personal issues. As an entrepreneur the work never stops. When working in restaurants or corporate institutions, balance is almost nonexistent. Working 6 days a week 12-15 hour days; any time you have free you simply do not have energy or desire to do anything. Currently working for myself I am able to create a healthier work-life balance because I create my own schedule. A healthy balance is definitely necessary and I’ve seen an increase in work progress when I have a healthy personal life. I enjoy my current balance most because I can take on a larger workload if I want, or take time away if needed. Read more>>
