Meet Tiera Hickson | Lifestyle Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiera Hickson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiera, what do you attribute your success to?
I owe the success of my brand to God, He is the most important factor. The moment that I moved self out of the way, asked God to purify my plan for my life, and confirm, deny, or redirect my path; everything changed for the better. A vision was revealed to me that held a much greater purpose than I could have ever imagined. He helped me develop a very important characteristic that has helped thousands of people: transparency.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a digital lifestyle content creator on Instagram. I create videos that encourage growth in all areas of life: spiritually, emotionally, mentally, socially, and physically.
What are you most proud of/excited about?
– I am most proud of my ability to still be relatable as I grow as an “influencer.” I am able to do this through transparency. I don’t only show the good parts, I’m human and people need to know that.
– I am most excited for a new segment that I will be starting soon. I’m still ironing out the details, but “God said it, not me” sounds like a winner for the title name.
How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
– It definitely was not easy, it took tons of trial and error. I first started as a creator on Youtube back in 2014-2015 doing natural hair videos. I believed my purpose was to inspire young girls and women to love themselves inside and out regardless of their hair texture. I eventually fell out of love with that style of content, loc’d my hair, and bounced around from niche to niche. I did everything from nail content to fashion content to art content. Nothing ever felt 100% right until I discovered lifestyle content. The thought of being an inspiration to others through my daily life habits sounded absurd to me at first. I was certain I needed something more, but I realized that I was enough. After coming to that realization, my content took a turn for the better. I grew my Instagram account from 282 followers to over 100K in 3 months. You may think that’s the good part, but it’s not. The best part is that I have helped thousands of people create and break habits that have lead to their overall personal development. I am teaching people how to live a well balanced lifestyle. I honestly couldn’t ask for a better platform or community.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
1. Keep God first, include Him in everything you do.
2. Comparison is the thief of all joy.
3. Being yourself is key. You are the content.
4. Consistency breeds success.
5. Don’t let the highs get too high or the lows get too low.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
– God did it, not me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am actually not from Houston and neither do I live there. I am from Georgia and I currently live in New York. If a friend were coming to visit me here, I would take them to Syracuse. Syracuse has so many fun things to do from axe throwing at iSmash to wine tasting at Lakeland Winery. There are so many cool and unique food options such as Three Lives which is a video game themed restaurant and Rise N Shine Diner which has the best mimosa flight I’ve ever had in my life. If you just want to hang out, there are tons of trails to walk and chat. Green Lakes State Park is my favorite. If you wanted to do something extra special, NYC is always bucket list worthy.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shoutout:
To God for His grace and mercy.
To my husband Camiron for his everlasting love and support.
To my grandmother for her strong faith and prayers.
To my best friend Jada for her listening ear.
To my good friend Katara for her unapologetic honesty.
