We had the good fortune of connecting with BARDECHE MAKITA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi BARDECHE, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It took me 8 years to put my business on foot, because I had to focus on school and gaining some experience in management. Through this period, I was working as a hair stylist, sometimes when the owner was not there, I was the one managing the shop. Spending all these years gave a big picture of how hair salons work, how to manage clients, finance and budgeting. At some point I was procrastinating because I wanted to have a solid foundation before starting on my own. I also had a fear of failure. However, my friends and family were supportive and encouraging to help me achieve my goal.
What should our readers know about your business?
At Eyano’s we do all kinds of protective styles from cornrows to box braids and so on. we are also, building a hair extension and hair product line which will start anytime soon.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
here in Houston, I do not really go out. however, I do spend more time visiting museums and going to Galveston near water. when i want to eat the woodland is the best area for me to go especially the tris restaurant.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m very grateful to God who has helped me to become who I’m today, also I thank him for the gift he gave me I did not go to school to learn how to braid it just came naturally. I also thank my family and friends, especially Franck Nzamba and Franck Ghoma for supporting me and encouraging me to achieve my dream!
