We had the good fortune of connecting with Deovion Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deovion, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When it comes to risk I think it has played a huge role in my career. The biggest risk I’ve taken thus far is believing in myself and deciding to start my own business! Entrepreneurship is a roller coaster with its ups and its downs, but when you take the risk of believing in yourself throughout that process and grow it can yield some beautiful results.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am Chef Dee the Owner/Operator of Culinary Dee LLC. I am a Personal Chef and I specialize in private event catering and meal prep. My commitment to bettering my business and improving my skillset sets me apart from others in my industry. I think there is always room for improvement and ways to be better. In my business I think I am most proud of my customer service skills! I try to be understanding and work with my clients as best as possible, making them feel appreciated and like their dollar matters because it does.
The easiest part of running a business has been getting my LLC to begin with. Since then it has been a long process of trial and error and a lot of learning curves. I overcome challenges by learning and connecting with other business owners to share advice and resources. Along this journey I have learned that advertising yourself is key! Not being afraid to say this is who I am, this is what I do, and the is my business.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve had several visits from friends and family members since moving to Houston and have found a few of my favorite places in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If anyone deserves a little credit and recognition in my story would be my mother. She always raised me to take a risk because “The worst thing they can tell you is ‘no'”. My mother always encouraged me to chase my ambitions and that their was nothing out of my reach.
