Meet Kaitlyn Woods | Wife, Mom, & Businesswoman

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaitlyn, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from League City, TX. My background and upbringing definitely made me the woman that I am today. I watched my mom be the head of household and work endlessly to make sure my sisters and I had everything that we needed and when I myself became a mom, I knew that I was going to model myself after her to be the go-getter I am today to provide all things necessary and possible for my family.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being a photographer has been something that I’ve dabbled with the thought of for years. It wasn’t until 2021 that I decided to take the plunge and do it though. Boudoir photography has been my specialty and passion since the beginning. I made this choice after being a boudoir model myself and realizing the amount of confidence that my shoots gave me. I want to help other women feel the way I felt. The feeling of “I’m an amazing and bad ass woman and my life is mine.” At the end of 2021, I got pregnant with my youngest and it was at that time that I decided to take time off to make sure my pregnancy went smoothly. I knew I’d return back to photography, just didn’t have a set timeframe. At the end of 2022, when I felt I was finally in a good space with where I was in my career in the corporate world as well as in a good space in my home life, I decided to pick the camera back up and I’ve been non-stop since then. Getting to where I am today was definitely a struggle. Not a terrible one, but one that had me playing tetris in real-life. Being a mom, wife, and businesswoman, I had to make sure all of the puzzle pieces fit to where I was going to be able to pursue my passion for photography on top of everything I was already doing in life. The biggest lesson I learned from this was that, if it is something you’re passionate about, you’ll find a way to do it no matter the obstacles. I have followed that mindset and have been able to accomplish all that I do and still have time to breath at the end of the day.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sight-seeing and finding the best places to be in the area is one of my specialties. I find these places not even knowing how great they are until it happens. For coffee and breakfast in the morning, we’d definitely stop into Luce Coffee Roasters for a charcoal infused latte or stop into Summer Moon Coffee for a latte featuring some creamy, dreamy moon milk. I’m not much of a breakfast person so coffee shops are always my morning go-to’s. For lunch and dinner, the two usually combine and mix but a few places you could find us trying out are Pier 6 in San Leon, Jackie’s Brickhouse in Kemah, La Brisa in League City, or Kelley’s Country Cookin’ also in League City. Definitely something for everyone at each of those restaurants. For drinking and hanging out, I’m always torn between hitting up Wonder Bar out in Midtown or going to Voodoo Hut out in Kemah. Both would be great places to look if you’re trying to find me. We can’t forget either to check out an Astro’s game at least once!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband and my children. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. The amount of love and support they give is where my motivation comes from. They are my whole purpose for getting up and putting in the amount of work that I do on a daily basis.
