We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Hundley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had never thought about owning my own business until recently (well, except for that desire to have my own restaurant as a kid, but who doesn’t think about that when you’re young?). I was working for a law firm in Houston and was tasked with establishing the marketing department that had not been running smoothly prior to my being hired. This is something I have never done before, didn’t go to school for, and all I could think was “what is marketing..?”

Fast forward 2 years into that career, the marketing department, strategies, efforts, and campaigns that were run under my supervision caused the firm to increase its revenue by nearly 49% from the previous year. Despite the pandemic, I was able to grow a firm more than it ever has in just one year, all while being forced into a digital world.

I enjoyed it so much and thought about how I can help other small business owners grow their businesses during the pandemic by capturing online audiences since most places were either closed or on the verge of closing. That’s when HTX Marketing Group was born. I founded HTX Marketing Group on the belief of working closely with business owners and their teams to grow their business to its fullest potential – their way. Having numerous experiences working with other marketing companies nationwide when searching for help to grow the law firm, I realized there are not many who take a hands-on approach with their clients. I want to change that with my company. I want to handhold businesses as they grow and make sure they understand how to do it efficiently while increasing their profitability.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
HTX Marketing Group is a modern marketing agency that takes a fully digital approach to business growth. We realize that running a business isn’t necessarily the easiest thing to do, so our company allows you to run the day-to-day operations while we do work in the background. This gives business owners the time to do things they truly enjoy doing without having to worry about where their next customer or client is going to come from.

My business takes a hand-holding approach, which is completely different than many other marketing agencies. I’ve experienced being confused by reports provided by other companies and I have not been given a clear set of goals or metrics to measure their performance. Our team wants our clients to know what is going on in the background. Our team wants our clients to understand what we are doing and why it is beneficial. Our team wants our clients to understand the reports and metrics we provide. Our team wants to be sure we are growing our clients’ businesses their way and at their pace.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a week to take someone around the city, I would first have brunch at Bosscat Kitchen & Libations and then stroll up and down Westheimer to the small thrift stores in the areas. Some places that I’d take them would include Truck Yard, JR’s, and Unicorn Disco for some good vibes, the Museum of Fine Arts and browse around the Museum District, see what shows are playing at TUTS, and take them to Discovery Green to see what events are going on.

Depending on the weather, we’d definitely go kayaking on the bayou!

Houston is filled with so many things to do, people to see, history to soak in, and I feel like only a week wouldn’t do our city justice for a non-local.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a HUGE shoutout to my friends and family! They have been my biggest supporters while I have been working full time (still at the law firm because I love it), building my business, and recently jumping back into school full time. I also want to give a very special shoutout to my colleagues who have helped me grow into the career I have today. I would not be in this position without the help of the law firm that “threw me to the sharks” and allowed me to learn on the job.
