Meet Adeyinka Adegoke | CEO MelaninPeople

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adeyinka Adegoke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adeyinka, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well to be honest, what propelled me was that I am more of a creative than an end-user. I was also being motivated by BLACK ECONOMICS. As we are well aware that black people’s economics needs some help. who can better help us than ourselves? I quickly figured out that God has a reason to put this on my mind. I decided to do something about it and this is how MELANINPEOPLE got started.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the CEO of MelaninPeople. A socio-business media platform connecting MelaninPeople from all over the world using short-form videos, pictures, and messaging applications. Our vision is to connect people of color from different parts of the world, share the culture and increase our socio-economic awareness.

MelaninPeople is also a reward-based social media app for black people that introduces a new ecosystem that merges entertainment, lifestyle, passion, education, marketplace, and business directory, inside a single mobile application. Unlike any other popular social media site, where 100% of the platform’s value and revenue goes to the corporate shareholders,

MelaninPeople enables all users to earn and own a fair share of the overall revenue, within the ecosystem, through our loyalty token “MPT”. We hope to fully deploy this functionality by Q3 2022. At the moment, you can earn our virtual currencies in-app when you refer a friend to create a business or personal profile. Our business model sets us apart from others and we hope that we can convert the huge African, South American, North American, European, and Caribbean markets soon.

As a company, we have not raised any seed funding or any Series fund yet. I have been bootstrapping 100%. We also do not have any backroom staff at the moment. I hope that we would be able to bring people onboard very soon. The journey has not been easy as you can imagine. o be honest, one thing I am most proud of is that I have been able to do this all alone for the past 3 years. God’s grace has been more than enough. However, I strongly believe that it’s time to develop a team that will take over the world with me.

At the moment the platform has over 12,000 users on the platform. Our goal is to reach 500,000 users by the end of 2022.

The question everyone asks me is ” How have you achieved this alone?” My answer is God has given me the grace to do this. I have failed in several tech startups over the years. My very first startup, “FresHires” failed. Even though “FresHires” failed, I learned that one should never give up on one’s dream. I also acquired a lot of advanced skills when I worked on FresHires.

I want all black people and people of color all over the world to know that the MelaninPeople App was made for them and we should all come together to support one another more intentionally and more consciously.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my beautiful wife Dr. Olulade Adegoke for her unrelenting support. To Dr. Yvonne Canegan who encouraged me and provided her words of wisdom at a time when I was ready to give up on the MelaninPeople brand. To my 3 sisters, Adefisayo Adegoke, Adeola Efunwoye, and Oreoluwa Fadiran my awesome cheerleaders who motivated me to get the trademark done for MelaninPeople. Finally, to my super parents Dr. & Mrs. Lawrence Adegoke, thank you for your prayers and words of wisdom. To everyone else who has helped me on this journey, I want to say a big thank you.
