We had the good fortune of connecting with Adia White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adia, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking has been the key to growth in my life and career. If I only focused on what I knew I could do, I would never branch out to explore new things or encourage new innovations. Taking risks has helped me to overcome fears. Though we may be afraid to fail, taking risks will always be beneficial. Some of my failed attempts of taking risks have taught me the most valuable lessons as a business owner.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My ability to translate one’s vision into edible food or visible art is what sets me apart from others. I am most proud of my personal growth as an entrepreneur, being able to work with people from different parts of the world. This personal journey has not been easy, but faith, failure, and consistency got me to where I am today. Positivity and speaking things into existence is my approach to overcoming the challenges of being a young, business owner. If you train your mind to believe that you will do something and take strides to achieve it, then it will come into fruition. If there is anything that I want the world to know about my story, I would point out that my brand would not be a product of me if I did not remain authentic. Conformity was never a goal for me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend visited the Houston area and I wanted to show her the best time ever I would definitely take her to Shipley Donuts to get a bomb glazed donut fresh off of the flight. We would eat lunch at Grace’s, visit an All Access Art Show, have dinner and drinks at Thirteen and enjoy a game night, I am a homebody, so I enjoy being inside with a glass of wine and good music.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Everyone deserves love, encouragement, and support in the most genuine form. I am blessed to give credit to my older sister, Ashley Young, for providing all of the above as an honest mentor. She exemplifies what it means to have integrity and reminds me to stand firm on my beliefs. She has helped me set the foundation for my business, influenced some of my most popular recipes and is always elated to taste test.
