Hi Adrienne, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my candle business was driven by a combination of passion, market opportunity, and a desire to create something meaningful. I’ve always loved the ambiance and warmth that candles bring to a space. During a particularly stressful period in my life, I found solace in crafting my own candles as a form of relaxation and creative expression.

As I shared my candles with friends and family, I received overwhelmingly positive feedback. This made me realize there was a potential market for high-quality, handmade candles that offered unique scents and eco-friendly ingredients. I conducted thorough market research and discovered a growing demand for sustainable, artisanal products that stood out from mass-produced alternatives.

My vision for the business was to create a brand that not only provided beautiful, high-quality candles but also aligned with my values of sustainability and community engagement. I wanted to offer products that customers could feel good about purchasing, knowing they were supporting environmentally conscious practices.

With a background in design and a keen interest in entrepreneurship, I felt well-equipped to start this venture. I meticulously planned each step, from sourcing sustainable materials to designing eco-friendly packaging, and developed a business plan to guide my journey.

Ultimately, my goal was to create a candle business that brought joy and comfort to people’s lives while making a positive impact on the environment. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m excited to continue growing and evolving the business.

What sets my candles apart from others I would say that my candles are not just sources of light and fragrance; they are pieces of art that combine creativity with a deeper purpose. By designing dessert/food-inspired candles and incorporating hidden mental health messages, I set my brand apart in a crowded market. This blend of visual appeal, delightful scents, and a focus on mental wellness is innovative and impactful. The dessert and food-inspired candles are not only visually appealing but also evoke a sense of nostalgia and comfort. They stand out because they look good enough to eat! The hidden mental health messages add a layer of significance to the candles. They offer customers more than just a product—they provide encouragement, hope, and a gentle reminder to take care of their mental health. Each candle tells a story and provides an experience, making them more than just a commodity. Our brand connects with customers on an emotional level, fostering loyalty and a deeper connection.

Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced difficulties in the beginning, from perfecting my product to finding the right market. Overcoming these challenges required resilience and adaptability. I had to learn various aspects of running a business, from production to marketing and sales. Each hurdle I overcame added to my knowledge and skills. Drawing on support from family, friends, and professional networks helped me navigate tough times and find the strength to keep going.

Things I’ve learned along the way are persistence in the face of challenges is crucial, each setback is an opportunity to learn and grow, staying creative and finding unique selling points helps differentiate my brand from others, and building a brand that resonates with customers on a personal level fosters loyalty and long-term success.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that my brand is about more than just selling candles; it’s about creating experiences and promoting mental wellness. I want the world to know that my candles are designed with care and purpose, providing both beauty and meaningful messages to uplift and inspire. By sharing my journey, I inspire others to follow their passions, embrace challenges, and find innovative ways to make a difference. My candles light up rooms and lives, bringing warmth and positivity to my customers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, I would take her to visit a local coffee shop for a warm drink and a light snack to catch up and relax, head to Post for a variety of food options. Enjoy the different cuisines and spend the evening at the rooftop for some great views and activities, eat breakfast at local smoothie shops, explore local shops and enjoy the vibes, have lunch and dinner at small business owned restaurants and local vegan cafes. I would take her to visit small owned businesses in the heights area, local boutiques, galleries, and specialty stores. Visit farmers markets and stop by my favorite herb store to make teas, go to the park, visit iconic landmarks and tourist spots, hiking, beach day in Galveston, and spa day.

Their unwavering support and love I have received from my family has been the backbone of my journey. From early encouragement to continuous motivation, they’ve been there every step of the way.
