We had the good fortune of connecting with Alanda Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started this business to create a safe, welcoming space where every client could feel seen, cared for, and confident—especially when receiving something as personal as laser hair removal. I recognized a major gap in the industry for inclusive, professional treatments that serve all skin tones, genders, and sexual orientations. Go Bare was born out of the desire to fill that gap with a brand rooted in results, trust, and genuine community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business was born from a personal experience that went wrong. I had a bad laser hair removal treatment because the spa I visited used the wrong machine for my skin type. I didn’t know at the time that different lasers work for different skin tones, and I ended up with burns. That experience sent me down a rabbit hole of research. I took classes, got licensed, and realized this was something I could not only do, but do better.

I’ve always been a bit of a rebel. Working for someone else just isn’t for me. So I made the decision that if I was going to do this, it would be on my own terms. Starting the business wasn’t easy. I went in not knowing anything about entrepreneurship. Every step has been a lesson in the school of life. But those lessons have made me stronger, more resilient, and deeply connected to what I do.

What sets my studio apart is the personal experience I offer. I created a space that feels like visiting a good friend. Warm, safe, and welcoming. Laser hair removal is an intimate service, and I want every client to feel seen, valued, and cared for. You’ll always see the same face. You’re not just a number here, you’re part of a community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d definitely show them the best time ever Houston-style! We’d start the trip with brunch at Taste Kitchen to get a feel for the city’s bold flavors, and later in the week we’d definitely hit up Chop n Block for a unique West African dining experience.

For drinks, we’d make the rounds Eight Row Flint for laid-back vibes and tacos, Johnny’s Gold Brick for amazing cocktails, and Heights Bier Garten to enjoy the outdoor scene and a great beer selection.

During the day, we’d soak up some culture with visits to The Menil Collection and the Museum of Fine Arts. Both are must-sees and packed with inspiration. We’d also grab a picnic and chill at Buffalo Bayou Park, maybe even catch sunset there.

To wrap up the nights with some energy, I’d take them to Scott Gertner’s Rhythm Room for live music, good vibes, and dancing. It’s a whole vibe and always a good time.

Houston has such a rich mix of culture, food, and fun. You can’t really go wrong!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without a doubt, my greatest shoutout goes to my children. They have been and continue to be my greatest inspiration in all of my accomplishments. Every step I’ve taken, every goal I’ve set, and every challenge I’ve overcome has been fueled by the love I have for them and the example I want to set. Their unconditional love push me to be better every single day. They remind me of my purpose and keep me grounded in what truly matters.
