We had the good fortune of connecting with Alayssia Guidry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alayssia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Perseverance. In business you will not always feel your best or be in the best personal circumstances. Society will change as trends shift and the economy will not always be your best friend. However, you must adapt and learn to keep your goals at the top of your concerns. The best part about becoming a flexible entrepreneur is the new experiences and changes it will bring to you personally.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Getting here? A road truly traveled and uniquely designed by me. Reaching this point of my career took a lot of prayer, consistency, and determination. Balancing education, business, and my personal life was no where near easy as it was all so new. As I reflect on the challenges I’ve encountered they seem so small compared to how they might have felt in the moment, and with that I’ve learned to relax and simply keep working. Not letting the judgement and expectations of the world have given me the ability to succeed at my own pace. High Society Studios is a reflection of of my faith and hard work and I will continue to enhance my brand.
As a master beauty professional, I specialize in lash extensions, body waxing, temporary eyebrow services, and studio management. I am most proud of my flexibility as an artist. I’m able to achieve almost any desired look my clients request, while assuring it compliments their face.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being a Louisiana native I absolutely love Houston! There’s so much to explore in this city and the food is amazing! For the ultimate experience I’d do a full day of food tasting. Nearly anywhere you visit will come with food, music and drinks. My number one restaurant is currently Lost & Found (phenomenal pasta). Next I’d take them to Discovery Green where a great walk always refreshes my spirit and renews my inspiration. But for a good ole fashion closings, I’d take them to a trail ride! My favorite thing to do. A day of horse back and ATV riding top with good food and a live zydeco band, all while enjoying family and friends is my ultimate Houston experience.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to personally thank my family and friends as a whole. The support I receive is unconditional and tremendous to my ability to maintain a business. Hearing that my family is proud of me and that I inspire some old and some young to take charge of their life and circumstances drives me to excel everyday. I’d like to give a special shoutout to my dear angel, Betty Guidry. In the beginning I confided my intentions to her and she always advised me to follow my heart.
