We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra Forrest and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexandra, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life balance has changed tremendously over time with my family growing and children getting older. It is so hard as a mom to find that healthy balance. You’re being pulled in so many directions, wanting to be the perfect employee, boss, or business owner. While also wanting to be there for your kids and partner, participating in their activities, spending time together after school, eating dinner as a family, giving everyone your undivided attention. Not to mention keeping a neat house, setting aside time for yourself and friends. That’s a lot to keep balanced on your plate and we need to remember that we are not weak for having slight unbalances and having to constantly readjust.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My interest in real estate began 20 years ago when I bought my first house magazine from CVS at the ripe age of 13. I’ve had a love and passion for it since but didn’t turn it into a career until recently. In 2016 I left my 10 year career in the automotive industry to be a stay at home mom. For years I itched to get back into the workforce, and finally had my chance in the beginning of 2020. Wanting to go straight into real estate but not having time on my side, I chose to enter the title and escrow side of the industry. Having that title background as a real estate agent benefits me and my clients in exponential ways, Getting to where I am today has been a long, winding, bumpy road but I fought hard to be here and my clients see that in the knowledge and expertise that I share with them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a real estate agent it’s my job to be a local expert for my clients, especially those who are moving to Houston, or even Texas for the first time. This includes restaurants, night life, family friendly activities, and events around town. First and foremost, TEX-MEX! You can’t visit Houston and not sit on a patio with a cold margarita and some chips & queso. Some of our favorite places are kid friendly where adults can enjoy themselves as well. El Patio at Mason is a new food truck park with a playground! Most of the breweries in the area have fun things for the kids to enjoy. The Burger Ranch in Cypress has great food, a stage for live music, and a huge outdoor area. Houston is so diverse, no matter what you’re looking to do or eat, there’s a place for you!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My dad always deserves some credit in my story. My parents had me in high school so I watched them go through college, beginning their careers, etc. My dad worked his way through his master’s in finance and built an incredible career. all while helping my mom raise 7 kids and coming home to help with homework, make dinner, and serve as a Cub Scout den leader for nearly 15 years.
