We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Higgins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?

I wake up everyday with the mindset that there is more to come for me. The consciousness of my opportunity to learn has given me the gift of patience. I listen to my surroundings, and I really pay attention to the things that I’m doing. With my actions, my personal relationships, and beyond. I am new to playing the long game. I used to live my life in a rush. I sped through milestones until I hit a wall one day that made me look at life completely different.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

People should have the understanding that I love knowing that I’m finding things out. I play around with art, design, tech, business, science; I mean the list goes on. I have made every move on the basis of taking the unconventional route. I don’t want to know everything, I just listen, soak things in and move accordingly. I learned about life at an early age, like most, and with that in mind I decided to just be…be okay with where I am and be honest about how I feel. It doesn’t have to be clean, but it has to be true. Most of my challenges originated from within, so I just learned from my mistakes. I want to be known for projecting my talent in a way that can never be duplicated. None of this is easy by the way, I have days where I feel like I’m on top of the world and then a cycle of life comes by and I crash. All I do is decide that I’m not done yet. That’s all it takes. I can respect someone who will not give-up on themselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Ha. I love every part of this city. My favorite coffee shop is in Second Ward. I like this neighborhood taco joint in Sugar Land, My favorite boba tea spot is in Alief. I’m a traveler. I like to roam and discover. I find things to do. My favorite gym is off Cleburne. My favorite place to go for a run is off 610. My favorite restaurant is off San Felipe. My favorite place to play basketball is off 288. I’d make sure we got to enjoy the city as it comes. Ask about me, they’ll back me up.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Everyone. None of course on the level of my mother, but everyone. My mom led the way in a fashion that I don’t hear many people discuss. But, to everyone who has interacted with me after hours, thank you. I think that’s the best time to get to know me, when I’m at ease. I’m honest and I communicate my perspective. I don’t jump to conclusions. I’m multifaceted. That is thanks to the molding of my community, the ones I’m in group chats with, family functions and involved in their personal milestones. I celebrate people the way I know that I have observed them communicating.
