We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Morley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success would have to be treating clients just as they are, as people. To become successful or even a sought after permanent makeup artist, you have to treat people as individuals rather than just another client. Being personable relieves the tension in the room, and allows my clients to feel comfortable and relaxed.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I specialize in SofTap permanent cosmetics, everything is done 100% manually. Every hair stroke is done by hand, every dot of shading is tapped in by hand. I do not use a tattoo machine for any of my work so everything I do is precisely placed in a very specific manner. It wasn’t easy in the slightest to get where I am today. I had to climb my way up from a very rocky start. I started with essentially nothing, due to my first business plan falling through, I had nothing but two certifications stapled between cardboard. I dusted myself off, and dug deep to grow my business to the beauty of what it is now. I’ve done multiple trainings to make sure I stay up to standards and give my clients the work they deserve. I’m 3 times certified with SofTap and soon to become an instructor. I used to get teased for “never knowing a stranger” and that has actually become my staple in this industry, clients come in as strangers and leave as my friends. I have been absolutely blessed with my clientele. The phrase everyone has come to know as soon as they walk into my shop is “there is no such thing as too picky with me”, I encourage my clients to be as picky as can be, I am working with their faces so you can never be too picky with something so precious.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The area my shop is located is surrounded by EVERYTHING. We have food truck parks. nail salons, a movie theatre and much more within minutes. I’m conveniently located on 1488, where Conroe/The Woodlands/ and Magnolia meet.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shout-out to all of my clients who have trusted me and given me the opportunity to work with them and grow my skill through the experience they’ve blessed me with. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my beautiful support system.
