Meet Alexis Shoope | Physical Therapist & Strength Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Shoope and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexis, what is the most important factor behind your success?
As a physical therapist, I think there are two things that are key to success. First and foremost, your patients/clients have to trust you. In order for them to trust you, they probably need two key things: they want to feel heard and they want to feel confident that you can help them. Success in healthcare or any service-based industry comes from these two things. If someone doesn’t feel listened to, you may be the best in the business, but they may feel you just view them as another sale. Their confidence in you will grow as they feel heard and they feel you can solve whatever problem they are bringing to you. They want to feel like they are talking to a human who goes through hard things or who is related more than a human who is robotically moving through the motions looking for that sale.
Secondly, I believe building relationships is key to success. If someone had a great relationship with you as one of your patients or clients, they are going to send someone else. If someone who is a colleague trusts you, they will refer you people when they are full or maybe when they need a second opinion. Every interaction could turn into someone down the road who may eventually invest into your business!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of the things I am proud of, is that I created exactly what I wanted. When I first became a physical therapist, I knew that I did not want to work in the corporate world forever. As I began getting exposure to more of what was out there, I realized exactly what I wanted wasn’t around. I took a leap of faith and created it myself. Something that sets me apart from traditional physical therapy experiences, is that each client I work with, works directly with me both in person and when they need things outside of appointments. They get to communicate with me and they are always seen one on one so high quality care is promised!
All of this wouldn’t be possible without a lot of late nights and long days when I was transitioning and creating my business. The freedom and flexibility I have now is absolutely worth it. You definitely need support from friends and family to get through it, but it’s worth it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely eat our way around the city. We would go to Bludorn for a fancy dinner out. We would grab a slice of New York style cheese pizza at Romano’s. We would get some amazing sushi at Kata Robata. We would have to go to the Original Ninfa’s on Navigation for tex mex too. We would go play volleyball and walk around Eleanor Tinsley Park and maybe even visit the rooftop cinema club in the galleria.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
