Meet Alicia Briggs

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alicia, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
In my personal journey, giving up meant dying. Giving up meant staying bed bound. Giving up meant never being active with my kids again. Giving up meant not living a life I had visioned for myself. Giving up was a non negotiable. I had to keep going or else.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand is my story. My story once heard can break the strongest man down to a tearful baby. My story is a reflection of God being present in my life and the crossroads of where fear and faith collide.
I’m a 36 yr old mother of 4, a 2 times uterine rupture survivor, and in 2020 I was over 400lbs and on bed rest ordered by my neurologist! My life was a shell and I felt like a burden. It was easy to hide just how badly things gotten, til once day my daughter asked if mommy was dying. I knew then that I had to make a change.
My journey had many obstacles that made me want to quit, but the result of quitting was unthinkable. I did not want to accept an early death as my fate so I persevered while sharing my entire journey on social media.
Today I am 220lbs down, I run and lift weights, and I help other women become healed, whole and healthy through online coaching. I share my testimony with millions daily via social media. I’ve traveled and spoken to women from across the country. But my most important role is being a mom to my 4 littles and keeping them safe.
We recently moved across to country to Houston Texas for better opportunities for our children and it was the best decision yet!
What sets me apart is my resilience and my willingness to never give up.I learned along my journey of weightloss and the pursuit of getting health that I have chronic illness. I was diagnosed with Post Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, atrioventricular block type 2, and earlier this year Orthostatic Intolerance! Through adversity and near death experiences, I’ve smiled and continued to speak life in the face of fear, doubt, and depression. When I didn’t have the answers, I sought them and got the knowledge needed to be successful.
If The World was to learn 1 thing from my story, it would be “You can do Hard Things”! It’s not too late, you’re not too far gone, it’s not over. You are worthy of taking care of! You were beautifully and wonderful made.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It’s hard to say! I dont get out much! All I do is gym, grocery, and take kids back and forth to school.
Maybe I’ll give some recommendations instead of an itenerary… maybe someone can suggest things to me cuz I’m so NEW! Lol
Must visits: Alphaland, Trill Burger, Breakfast Club, Houston Zoo during Halloween time!
(Seriously I need a recommendations list lol)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to shout out my children, there names are Mackenzie, Michael, Matthew, and Madison. They were the catalyst towards my journey and I am so greatful I get to be their mother everyday.
I hope to some day soon get connected in the Houston area as I’m still very much new in town.
