We had the good fortune of connecting with Alioune F. Ndiaye and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alioune F., we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
There goes a common saying in life “no risk, no reward”. I am a believer in this saying as I believe if you don’t take a chances in life, there may be no big rewards to be discovered. I am at this position in my life at the moment due to me coming up with an action plan as to where I want to be in my future and how I was going to get there. If it were not for that, I could have still been a project manager working for another company not capitalizing on my full potential.
What should our readers know about your business?
Avant Real estate and Development LLC was founded on the basis of real estate acquisitions and the growth of assets within the real estate field. I started this company as I knew real estate was the route I wanted to go follow in my life. So far it has been a great journey but I have a lot more to accomplish! I started off going to school for civil engineering and by the second year, I realized it was not what i wanted to do in my future. I made a switch to construction science and have not looked back! I graduated with my bachelors degree and ended up working as a project manager for a few years as a custom homes project manager and then left to go work for a developer for a few years! I learned as much as I could both on my free time and learned actively instead of passively and over the course of a few years, I had the background experience to go off on my own. I left that development company to work full time under my other construction company and started this real estate and development company for the property acquisitions. I have learned a lot over the years but have a group of mentors already established in the space made the transition a lot easier for me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I actually have a personal list of 250+ spots around town for food and drinks! I go out often but would definitely plan an itinerary around Z on 23rd, Joey uptown, Piggy’s Kitchen & Bar or Mico’s Hot Chicken! I usually hang out in the downtown, midtown or heights area as it is pretty convenient for me to get to! I also like golfing a lot in my free time, I usually recommend going to Wildcat, Tour 18 or Gus Wortham
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to mention the book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” to anyone that wants to follow a similar path in life. That book really helped me pivot my mindset from exchanging my time to make money into having money work for me to free my time. Since I have a construction background, the transition into real estate was for the most part smooth but it took a lot of planning and determination on my end to get to where I am at now. The book is not a real estate book but many aspects of it can be used to pair it up with your passion in where you want to go in life.
