We had the good fortune of connecting with Alishah Shahzad and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alishah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my henna tattoo business because I love the art and wanted to share it. I thought it would be wonderful to create beautiful designs that make people happy and provide a unique experience they’ll always remember.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets my henna art apart is the combination of intricate designs and a personalized touch. I take the time to understand each client’s preferences and create designs that reflect their individuality. I’m particularly proud of the attention to detail in my work, ensuring that every stroke is precise and every design is a masterpiece.
Getting to where I am today professionally wasn’t always easy. I faced challenges like building a client base and managing the business side of things. However, I overcame these obstacles by staying dedicated, constantly improving my skills, and seeking guidance from mentors in the industry. Each challenge taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, adaptability, and the importance of continuous learning.
My journey has shown me the significance of embracing creativity and authenticity. I want the world to know that my brand is built on passion and a commitment to providing an unforgettable experience. Every design I create tells a story, and I’m honored to be a part of my clients’ special moments through my art. My story is one of growth and the belief that pursuing what you love can lead to remarkable accomplishments.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d start the week with a visit to the Space Center Houston for some space exploration excitement. We’d explore the Museum District, stopping by the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Museum of Fine Arts. A stroll through Hermann Park and a visit to the Houston Zoo would also be on the list. For some local flavor, we’d head to The Pit Room for mouthwatering barbecue and Pondicheri for a mix of Indian and Pakistani cuisine. To unwind, we’d enjoy chai at Filli’s cafe and catch a movie. A day trip to Galveston for beach time and a historic district tour would be a great addition. We’d wrap up the week with a visit to the Buffalo Bayou Park and an evening trying different foods at Highway 6 Food Truck Park.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my family, especially my husband. They’ve been my biggest supporters since day one, encouraging me to pursue my passion for henna art and helping me every step of the way. Their belief in me has been a driving force behind my success, and I’m truly grateful for their unwavering support. Their presence in my journey has been invaluable, and I couldn’t have done it without them.
