We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Ducach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
As a mom, wife, friend and CEO, my thoughts on balance have drastically changed. 24/7 balance in your life is not really possible. It is about being present in the moment and staying focused on that moment only. Somedays, I am a great CEO, and other days, I am a great mother. I do my best to give 100% to the role that I am focused on in the present moment.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
SocialMama is an app that connects women to the mom friends that they need, and the licensed experts they can trust. Our community matches like-minded women together to support each other on their journey of motherhood. We eliminated swiping from the app to reduce bias when women are looking for new friends, and added licensed experts to ensure the community with judgement free and provided as much scientifically accurate information as possible. We are most proud of the fact that women believe our community is supportive and judgement-free and use our resource when they are going through very difficult times.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think the “new” Memorial Park is a beautiful place to see the diverse nature of Houston. Chinatown & Gandhi District are great places to find international cuisine. For drinking, a classic mint julep at Julep bar & restaurant on Washington Street is a must stop. For art, I’m currently obsessed with Laura Goodson art, she does pop-ups around the city, head to her IG channel for more info @lauragoodsonart on her next HTX pop-up!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give credit to all the parents that are managing to keep their little humans happy and safe during this crazy global pandemic.
