We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Marie Wilkinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda Marie, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I have several and majority come from my personal experiences in which I have written over the years, share with others, and now I have a compilation of quotes that I have formed into a book that is currently in the publishing process. It will be available for everyone this year, POCKET OF NOTES. We all have a story, some maybe a few. Through our experiences, we not only have the capability to share support and insight to others, but also resources. Unity with community is my life staple. It is not only how we survive, but thrive! “Remain compassionate by never forgetting your story”- A.M.W “Unity with community”- A.M.W

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My artistry is constantly evolving through film and television, music, and writing. It is not something that just comes out of no where or overnight, but is innate, however it is lifelong learning and growth. For me, writing is therapy. Whether it is simple journaling, turning our thoughts into music, storytelling, all of the above. I literally write everyday. This was a tool I found within myself as a child and I continue to use it. It is through different stages of life and our experiences we are able to better see where they can be used. Our experiences not only help with our personal growth, but we become great resources for others. When it comes to artistry, it relates as well. It is both therapeutic for the artist, as well as those who relate to what it is shared. I take pride in what I do and I take responsibility for what I share and how I impact others. Nothing In my life has ever come easy. In this industry you are the leader of your own career. You are the one who determines how much, how well and how far you are going to go. Knowing how to maintain a personal and worklife balance is very important as well. There is a lot of life that stands beside all that we do- family and other passions too. Having the ability to prioritize, take responsibility, and execute. No one is going to hold your hand and take you along our own path. So you have to remain disciplined, stay moving in your lane, work hard, and prioritize all in our life so you can maintain all that it is you desire. I am a woman who wears many hats. There is not a such thing as having too many passions and living passionately will always keep you full. I live each one everyday as an artist as well as my work in healthcare and the community all while maintaining balance with my family, self- reflection, meditation, education, and the the little things in life that gives me pure joy. I find the moments to do so everyday. It takes emotional maturity, experience, and practice- everyday. It is your lifestyle. It is possible, and I encourage it with every aspect of life. What makes you feel good, keep that around, what doesn’t, will never fit for the present nor the future. Never lose the core of who you are to anything or anyone. Stay open and determined to learn and grow. Keep up the great work!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am all about being a local and immersing yourself in the culture of the city. I am thankful that I have so many great spots close to home. I love to walk and explore so I am constantly finding locally owned businesses, parks, museums, art. I am in a city full of life and culture- a multitude of global unity. I love experiencing the food here that represents all of it, New spots are always popping up. I can’t keep up but it is exciting to explore when I do, especially with others. I am a big fan of being a local no matter where you travel. The one downfall of living in a big city is the lack of true nature. I love the water, hiking, and things like that, so if you were to spend a week with me, a road trip will be in order. I take road trips frequently. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that I contribute to my inspiration and success. It is through collaboration and unity in which we are able to build, grow, learn, and create. Much comes from simple unity with community. During the toughest of times, especially the year we just came out of, I have found to be blessed with the perfect strangers, introductions, collaborations, and engagement with others in which together, helped make a better place. Even as we remain to face challenges, we are in this together and together we are stronger. WE are here to contribute, not take away. I have amazing mentors from my formal education in both business and healthcare that I have always had as my biggest support on so many levels. We continue to work together to help community. When it comes to entertainment, having positive representation and mentorship from those who believe in you, by your side. Recognizing those who are and moving forward when they are not. In music, I am inspired to write and share through my experiences but also inspired by the stories of others. I have met and continue to work with those very special people in my life whom are amazing talents. We share immense passion and support towards one another, while also complimenting and contributing our individual talents and strengths. Making a really great team. That is the most important. Community is one of my biggest inspirations both on a personal and professional level. I am thankful for everyone I come across throughout the journey.
