We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Quinn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When starting up The Royal Look I new I wanted my business to feel the way I feel, Peaceful. I wanted to make sure that ever single person that stepped foot into my salon felt calm, peaceful, and safe. I wanted to also have a bit of a fancy salon which is why downtown was the perfect location for me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been been in the hair world for 11 years. When I say that out loud I shock myself lol, during that time I learned so much from what I call OG hair stylist -amazing stylist that have been in the game for decades. I learned so much professionalism which I think helps me so much. Being able to communicate with my clients, being timely, and making sure things are right. I think the most important thing I have learned is showing up for your clients.

At The Royal Look we really focus on the overall health of each client not treating any Clients the same. Being very detailed and honest at each appointment to ensure we are on the right track to reach their hair goals. We make sure to have very in-depth conversation to help us get to the bottom if any hair problems.

It has taken a lot of sacrifice and work to get to were I am now. I prayed a lot a lot. I have the most amazing clients which help so much. The thing I think most of us stylist have a hard time with is over working ourselves and learning balance. I think that once you successfully figure that out you have made it.

My biggest lesson was not listening to what others have to say, after communicating with the person who is most important(GOD) there shouldn’t be any other conversations to me had unless its with people who is has called to stand along side you. Most importantly work in silence and let you work speak for you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Thats a bit hard for me because I am a picky eater lol, but I do know a few place we would stop at, starting with Keg and Barrel- From here we will get great drinks and some of the best whole wings. I would also take her to the Depot yummyyy! Such a vibe and great food to top it all and of course before she leaves to her to The Royal Look to make sure she leaves in style.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout God FIRST. He gave me the vision and spoke the word over my life, letting me know that if I trust in him he would take care of me.

These ladies help carry me to this day. I appreciate y’all so much.
