We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Solis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly this wasn’t intended to be a business. It actually turned into a business eventually… I was kind of pushed into it after I entered a karaoke contest sang Selena songs and dressed as my mother people thought I was a tribute to SELENA but really it was just for fun and immediately after people started to contact me to try to book.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So over the past few years I have bloomed into a well recognized Selena Impersonator who travels all over the country performing my live tribute to selena with my band or even just me solo. I believe what sets me apart from others that are doing the same thing is I perform live with my own vocals and i have been told that I look and have a lot of the same mannerisms as the late singer Selena Im quoting Joey Guerra who is the main music editor for the Houston Chronicle which is one of many articles that have said the same things. I’m most proud that that I found my talent and that others enjoy me as a performer and Artist. I’m excited to try new sounds of Tejano music. With my first EP I want to show the different sides of me. Every song is different and shows why we said Cumbia Americana. After all that’s what Tejano is, Mexican music mixed with American influences. Also, that I have my team who have had faith in me and have helped me bloom into my own artist professionally as Amanda Solis and I now have my own personal music out now on all digital platforms. In this industry there are always going to be challenges trust me I have been through many and am still currently fighting. No it’s never easy but Luckily I have my team who have helped me and still help me by having my back supporting me because they believe in me and that’s all that matters. The lessons I’ve learned is to grow thick skin, being a selena impersonator is not an easy job especially when you have so many people with opinions. I would love the world to know that no matter where you come from what your back story is you can write your own beginning and ending. This is my beginning and I’m looking forward to sharing my ending with everyone that through all the trials and tribulations I have been through I have overcame. I want this to be my testimony to all of those Mexican American children still finding there way in life for them to know they can to live the American dream.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in Texas City TX so I’m right by beach so I’m a born beach bum also I’m just 30 minutes away from Houston so there are so many things to do. I would take her to the beach to enjoy soaking up some vitamin D in the sun and some drinks by the pool bar. Go to Houston to try some of the top 10 eateries because who doesn’t love good food and drinks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My late mother and father for introducing tejano music and the late singer Selena in my life as a child growing up. I would love to send a shoutout to my team and Label Street Science for riding this journey with me. Also, to all my fans for continuing to make my music and my selena tribute a hit. God bless
