We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Shorrosh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was a deeply personal decision, born from my own journey and the stories of so many women around me. As I got older, I began to notice changes in my face that didn’t just reflect aging—they reflected life. These changes, though natural, sometimes made me feel like I was losing a sense of myself. I realized I wasn’t alone in feeling this way, and it sparked something in me.

I’ve always loved makeup and skincare—not just as tools to look good, but as ways to feel good, to express who we are, and to celebrate where we are in life. But as I looked around, I saw that women over 40 weren’t being represented or catered to in the way we deserve. The beauty industry often overlooks us, or worse, makes us feel like we need to “fix” something. I wanted to change that.

This business is my way of giving back—to women like me who are navigating aging, confidence, and self-expression. It’s about showing that beauty doesn’t fade with time; it evolves. My work is a reflection of my passion for helping women reconnect with their power, their confidence, and their joy. This is so much more than a business to me—it’s a mission, a second act, and a love letter to every woman who has ever doubted her own beauty.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is about empowering women to see their beauty in a new light. I specialize in working with women over 40, a demographic that is often overlooked in the beauty industry. What sets me apart is my deep understanding of their unique needs and concerns, from changes in skin texture to wanting techniques and products that work for their lifestyles. My approach is rooted in education, connection, and creating an experience where my clients feel seen, valued, and confident.

I’m most proud of the moments when a client looks in the mirror and truly sees themselves, or during a coaching session when they have that lightbulb moment. Those transformations are what drive me. I’m also excited about growing my business into a space that not only offers makeup services but also becomes a trusted resource for beauty education and inspiration for women in their second act of life.

Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. Like many, I struggled with self-doubt and the fear of starting something new, especially later in life. One of my biggest challenges is finding the time and energy to balance a corporate career with building a business from the ground up. What’s helping me overcome these obstacles is breaking the process into smaller, manageable steps and staying connected to my “why”—the passion for helping women feel confident and beautiful.

Along the way, I’ve learned some valuable lessons. I’ve learned that perfection is overrated, and progress is what truly matters. I’ve learned to trust my instincts and to lean into the things that make my brand authentic and unique. Most importantly, I’ve realized that success isn’t about doing it all yourself; it’s about building a community of people who support and inspire you.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that there is power in embracing who you are at every stage of life. My story is about second chances, pursuing passions, and creating something meaningful that uplifts others. Through my work, I hope to show that confidence and beauty don’t fade—they just evolve, and I’m here to help women celebrate that evolution.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my gosh, where to start! There’s so much to see and do in our area. For sure we’d have to hit up NASA and The Galleria for shopping. During the week I’d love to take them down to the Houston tunnels, that is so cool to visitors. Some of our favorite places to eat that we would love to share are Bexar BBQ in Tomball, Pappasito’s and Musaafer. Depending on the time of year, I would love to take them to the Houston BBQ Cookoff and Rodeo.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My journey wouldn’t be what it is today without the incredible support and encouragement of so many amazing people in my life. First and foremost, my husband has been my rock, always reminding me that it’s never too late to chase my dreams. His belief in me, even during moments of self-doubt, has given me the courage to push forward.

I also want to give a heartfelt shoutout to my mentors, Camille Roark & Melanie Mills. Camille took me under her wing and gave me the confidence to truly believe in my abilities. Her mentorship and encouragement have been invaluable. Melanie Mills has also been an incredible source of guidance and friendship, always there with wisdom and kindness when I’ve needed it most.

To my dear friends Deanne Thomas and Kalondia Casey—your unwavering support, cheerleading, and belief in me have meant the world. You’ve been by my side through every step of this journey, and I can’t thank you enough for the love and encouragement you’ve given me.

Finally, I want to recognize the many women I’ve had the privilege to work with—friends, family, and clients. Your trust and your stories fuel my passion every single day. This journey is a testament to the power of community and the impact of having amazing people in your corner.
