We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Bath and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
For me, creativity is the essence of life. It is a life-force energy in itself, that keeps me moving forward in an excited and inspired way. To be honest I didn’t really feel like I had a choice in this, so centering my career around it was a no brainer.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a writing coach for women – but not your typical one. My goal is to support women in writing their stories and knowledge they have gained though lived experiences – not just to tell the story, but as an emotional processing system. Writing is an incredibly powerful tool, with huge healing potential. My job is to support women through processing everything that comes up along the way, while writing an incredibly powerful book that also has the potential to inspire others. My coaching style helps women to find their empowered voice and share it with the world. I believe this is what sets me apart.
My business has been an evolution of sorts. I began as a copywriter, offering my writing services to others. As this grew I was eventually contracted to write a book, which was an amazing experience. It inspired me to combine my coaching background with what I learned along the way, teaching others to do the same.
Starting a business is never easy, but my evolution has unfolded naturally and perfectly. I have learned to have patience, to take risks, to listen to my heart, and to trust that I am on the right path, leading other women to see and find their own clear direction.
My business is not to simply turn out books. My business is to help others heal through their writing, and in turn through the reading.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am from a small city on the outskirts of Vancouver B.C. called Pitt Meadows. We have some beautiful nature around here which lends well to my enthusiasm for the outdoors.
Locally I would take them for a hike in the beautiful Golden Ears Provincial Park – one of the few places that does not have cell reception and really feels like a retreat into nature. Afterwards I would take them to one of my favorite local restaurants called Big Feast, where everything they cook is deliciousness with a focus on local and sustainable food sourcing.
About an hour and a half East of here is a small lakeside town called Harrison Hot Springs, where yes, you guessed it, there are natural hot springs. One of the hotels has amazing pools you can visit, but better yet, there are a couple of natural hot tubs carved into the side of the mountain that are so amazingly healing to soak in. Combine that with ice cream from Chantilly Gelato and Ice Cream and you’ve got an amazing day trip.
Another must see is the world renowned Whistler Village Resort. In the winter we would strap on our snowboards and hit the slopes. In the summertime there are plenty of hiking and biking trails along with patios to sit on and soak up the sun with a cold beer.
Lastly, there is plenty to see Downtown Vancouver, so I would probably take them to rent an electric scooter to go around Stanley Park and to see the city.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Josh, who has held such incredibly supportive space, so that I could make my dream a reality.
