We had the good fortune of connecting with Andreanna Dotie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andreanna, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I think this is actually more important than working for myself as it helped ignite the flame in me I didn’t know I had. That is, to create and live a life of freedom. I know that I’m not supposed to work just to live for the rest of my life, let alone, work for someone else. I want to be able to pack up and vacation somewhere when I get ready and because I can afford it. I want to go visit my family and watch my niece play basketball. I want to be able to take personal days because I need them and not worry about “asking permission” and how I’m going to make that money back. So… working for myself is just the beginning of a lifetime of freedom.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a Hair Stylist is all about expression. It is so rewarding for me for this reason, I am able to freely express myself through my work. How a woman chooses to wear her hair says a lot about her personality and I think that’s dope! The one thing that sets me apart from other stylists is ME! Someone could provide a picture of the style they want and though it may be similar, it will never be exactly the same because we’re all different and we express differently. No, entrepreneurship and owning a business has not been an easy journey, but it’s been so rewarding to see a vision come to life. I’ve learned that making the choice is the easy part, there’s a lot that follows that. Consistency carries the most weight! I got to this point by taking a step back and reevaluating my life and how it looked compared to how I want my life to be. I had to end relationships. I had to stop bad habits. I had to read and research. I had to start putting myself first. Most importantly, I had to start! I want the world to know my work is not done. I am continuing my education to offer more in the future and I can’t wait to share!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God, because He equipped me with everything I needed to be where I am today. Tashalyn Jones, just watching her make moves has motivated me. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill served as a major force in deciding to choose faith over fear and going for everything I want in life.
