We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Peña and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I think one of the most important things that helped us become successful was following our gut and having self belief in ourselves. I feel like you have to actually believe in what you’re doing or creating in order to make things happen. Defeating your own self doubt is how you win.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Our art is inspired by pop art, street art, graffiti, and the things we grew up on from Houston and Cali culture. One thing that makes us proud is seeing strangers wear our products and having love for our designs/artwork. As an artist I put my heart and soul into these designs, so it makes us even prouder to see strangers buying our products. They’re not just buying a shirt, they’re buying hundreds of hours of failures and experimentation. It took a lot of hard work and sacrifice to get where we are today. From balancing college, work, social life, and the business takes a lot of sacrifice. We’ve came a long way but there’s more goals we need to accomplish and walls to break through. We still have so much work to do. Some of the lessons we’ve learned throughout this journey is that not everyone you know whether it be friends and family will support you. And that’s okay. Just keep grinding and applying pressure. Sooner or later you’ll build a community of people that see the vision. And surround yourself with people who execute. It’s easy to talk about an idea. The hard part is actually executing and acting on it. When the world sees us or learns about Trill Art Factory, I want them to feel empowered and positively impacted through our journey and art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The perfect spot I would say would be the inner city of Houston. I say this because there is great food spots, and dope art all around the inner city of Houston. Have a great time exploring all the art and then afterwards have a good meal.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to dedicate our shoutout to our brand supporters! We appreciate all the love you’ve given us and we hope to bring you more Trill Art that y’all enjoy.
