Meet Andy Amador | Photographer, Videographer & Editor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andy Amador and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andy, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
started taking videos and photos during my college days. I wanted to capture moments and editing has been my favorite thing to do! Once I graduated, I knew I needed to continue this and decided to create an official name, and a website. I decided to name my freelance company “Tecla Productions” because that’s where I am from. I was raised in a city called Santa Tecla in El Salvador. I thought this would be an excellent way to honor the city where I created my early memories and I was coming from.
Once I got married, I asked my husband to join and I know for sure he ended up becoming a better video shooter than I was lol. We enjoy our time together at weddings and at some point, it’s a “date night.” We have 2 little ones and we know all of this is worth it because they are learning that memories are worth capturing and it’s the only thing left from such a special day. Especially since it takes so much time to plan, save and prepare an event.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Even though I’ve read amazing stories about self-taught entrepreneurs, I am one of those that needed a degree to become a professional. I did not have the resources to afford it, so I had to work even harder to accomplish it. I started my first job at BYU-Idaho by cleaning the library at 4 am and making sure the building was clean before the students arrived, Additionally I had to sell plasma to afford my rent. I knew that was just temporary, and through classes, I was able to get a professional job that would allow me to get the experience I needed. Ever since I started editing and filming videos/taking pictures, I knew I was passionate about capturing moments,
After graduating, I made the decision to start freelancing, even though it was not easy to get my name out and reach clients, I have been blessed through the years to see it grow.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Every time a good friend is in town, I take them to places where we can snap good pictures and videos. One of them is the skyline at SAKS, Old Town Harrisburg, The Umbrella Alley in Baytown, McGovern Centennial Gardens, Galveston and Mercer Arboretum Botanical Gardens.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In this industry, you learn more through hands in experience. While I was in college, I got to work for the AV production and news department. That experience helped me figure out what I wanted to do after graduating. Freelancing was my first option after finishing my degree and applying everything I got to do while going to school.
I owe everything to my husband. Ever since I started college, he was cheering me up to learn all the best possible. Even though it was hard to go to college and it took me a lot of hard work because I didn’t have the resources to afford it.
Moreover, I feel passionate about capturing moments, because we get to experience daily with our little family how important it is to keep those memories forever and how you get to appreciate them afterward. The best moments go fast, and our mission is to keep those memories forever. Our little ones definitely inspire us to do better, because this is how we get to achieve dreams together as a family, by being memory keepers.
