We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I am currently pursuing my music career. I am in college studying, Music Education to learn more about my field. Though I would love to teach, I would also love to perform. I chose the arts because, music is very therapeutic to me. I have always been a shy person, but music has always helped me express myself better than my own words can do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been singing since I was 8 years old. Music has always played a huge part in my life. I have been put down before in the past, but now that I’m older I use that as strength to keep trying. I have heard plenty of “no’s” in my life, but this past year I finally heard a “yes” that changed my life. This year I got to compete in the hit Spanish language TV – Tengo Talento Mucho Talento in Los Angeles. I made it all the way to the semifinals and am using this experience to hopefully take me further in my singing career.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I am from Kingsville Texas, so the places we’d definitely go to is the historic downtown and visit the small shops. We could also take a trip to Corpus and go down Ocean Drive and the La Palmera Mall.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A huge shoutout to my mother, Marvelia Jimenez! She is biologically my grandma but has raised me since the day I was born and adopted me in 2015. So she has always been my mom, and I owe so much thanks to her. Shoutout to my music teachers who pushed me to do my very best. Shoutout to my family whom I love! And lastly, shoutout to all the radio stations/local tv stations who have interviewed me so far! Very grateful for you all!
