We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Kaatz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
When it comes to life and business, all choices come with risk. If you aren’t willing to take chances then you risk spending it in a tiny little box where no one can see your light shine.
I always say to go for it and take a chance! Even when you don’t reach your goals, at least you now have experience and you have grown from that lesson.
For me personally, I’ve never been afraid to take a leap. I keep my faith strong and my heart open as I embrace each day and each challenge that comes with it. You can’t learn to sail in smooth waters so my life has been one adventure after the next!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My first business I started was with my business partner and husband James Kaatz. We had noticed so many businesses began to shut their doors and their dreams were dashed in the blink of an eye. It was then we realized that we could use our skillset and marketing backgrounds to bring them back to life or save them before the notice hits the doorway. The lightbulb went off above our head and Illumination Marketing was born. Now we are a two time Better Business Bureau 2023-2024 award winning marketing company who help businesses all over the country!
As time passed us by and our company grew, I knew I wanted to expand my horizons and work with empowering beautiful women in the industry. I’ve always had a love for haunted history and ghost stories so I became inspired to take on a new challenge of going ghost hunting with an all female team! Think of it as a Selling Sunset vibe with a spice of the paranormal mixed all into one. From then on Ghost Hunting Beauties came to be! Now we are streaming all over YouTube, celebrity guests at conventions and growing our fans by the day! It’s been a dream come true!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The City of Houston and all its surrounding areas has some of the best food and music you will find in the country!
For the north Houston area (Tomball) we have a place called Re:Bar Cafe! They are 100 percent gluten free with food made fresh daily and waffles of every kind that always put a smile on my face. They are also a non profit so they never turn down anyone who needs a warm meal. These folks have hearts of gold!
For music, I recommend the 713 Music Hall! It’s large enough in size to prevent you from feeling crowded yet small enough to give you a more close-up experience with the bands so you can truly feel the vibe!
For those who love theatre like I do, I recommend Theatre Under the Stars! I’ve never ever walked away from a show without a huge smile on my face. I always find myself singing along and impressed with the detail and heart they put into their shows!
If you are looking to do a little shopping and want to enjoy the boutique experience, I recommend Old Town Spring in North Houston as well. They have so many unique varieties of shops and restaurants that can ensure you that you would need an entire day just to see it all.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my Ghost Hunting Beauties cast and crew for making so many of my dreams a reality.
I want to thank my loving husband James and daughter Allison who have always stood by my side and given me the encouragement to pursue my business goals even when I face the toughest challenges!
I also owe a lot to my mother for being the shining light in my world and never giving up on me!
To my bestie Anya for being an incredible & supportive friend. She is a loving, amazing, shining light of a human being!
