We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelle Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelle, how does your business help the community?
Retrospective Wellness Group improves community well-being by providing accessible, culturally responsive mental health care to individuals and families who often face barriers to support. We offer bilingual services, affordable therapy options, and community outreach programs that promote emotional health, education, and stability.
Through partnerships with schools, shelters, and local organizations—as well as initiatives like coat drives and wellness events—we actively support vulnerable populations and help meet essential needs. Our goal is to make mental health care approachable, reduce stigma, and strengthen the overall health of the communities we serve.
What should our readers know about your business?
Retrospective Wellness Group is a community mental health agency rooted in compassion, service, and cultural awareness. What sets us apart is our commitment to making mental health care truly accessible—through bilingual services, community outreach, partnerships, and a person-centered approach that honors each client’s story.
I’m most proud of the impact we’ve created in the community. We don’t just provide therapy; we show up for families through education, resources, and support programs that meet people where they are.
Getting here wasn’t easy. Building this agency came with challenges—regulatory hurdles, staffing, systems, and learning how to grow sustainably. But purpose kept me going. My mother, who has passed away, remains my greatest inspiration; her compassion for others is the heartbeat of this work.
Along the way, I’ve learned to stay anchored in my mission, surround myself with the right team, and embrace growth even when it’s uncomfortable.
What I want the world to know is that Retrospective Wellness Group exists because everyone deserves access to quality mental health care and support. Our story is one of resilience, service, and heart—and we are committed to uplifting the communities we serve.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Houston for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the heart of the city—our culture, food, diversity, and some of the hidden gems that make Houston so special.
Day 1 – Welcome to Houston
We’d start with brunch at The Breakfast Klub, a true Houston staple. Afterward, we’d stroll around Montrose, checking out local boutiques and grabbing coffee at Common Bond. Dinner would be at Pappadeaux—because nothing says “welcome to Texas” like good seafood.
Day 2 – Museum District & Relaxation
We’d spend the day exploring the Museum of Fine Arts and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. For something relaxing, we’d visit Hermann Park and take the paddle boats out. Dinner: Nobie’s in Montrose for a cozy, unforgettable meal.
Day 3 – Downtown Vibes
This day would be dedicated to downtown—walking through Discovery Green, visiting POST Houston for rooftop views, and trying the food hall. At night, we’d enjoy live music or a show at the House of Blues or Hobby Center.
Day 4 – Galveston Beach Day
A quick trip to Galveston for beach time, seafood, and walking the Seawall. We’d grab lunch at Gaido’s and stop by The Strand for ice cream and shopping before heading back.
Day 5 – Foodie Day
Houston is a foodie city, so this day would be all about food:
• Ninfa’s for the best Tex-Mex
• Turkey Leg Hut for something uniquely Houston
• And a sweet treat at Milk + Honey
In the evening, we’d go out in Midtown for drinks and dancing.
Day 6 – Nature & Peace
We’d visit the Houston Arboretum or Buffalo Bayou Park for a nature walk, then grab lunch at Local Foods. For a relaxing evening, we’d enjoy a quiet dinner at Grace’s—great comfort food and great ambiance.
Day 7 – Shopping & Goodbyes
On the last day, we’d go shopping at The Galleria, take pictures by the Water Wall, and finish off with dinner at Mastro’s or Steak 48. The perfect close to an unforgettable trip.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, I truly believe that no one succeeds alone, and I’m incredibly grateful for the people and support systems that have played a part in my journey.
First and foremost, I want to give a shoutout to my family, who have always encouraged me, believed in my vision, and reminded me of my purpose, especially during the hardest moments of building a business and serving the community.
I also want to honor my mom, who has passed away but remains my greatest mentor. Her compassion, strength, and heart for helping others continue to inspire everything I do. She is the reason I am so committed to serving the community and creating meaningful change through Retrospective Wellness Group.
I want to acknowledge my amazing team at Retrospective Wellness Group as well. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment to our mission are the foundation of our success. I am constantly inspired by their passion for mental health and their willingness to go above and beyond for the people we serve.
A special shoutout also goes to the mentors and colleagues who have poured into me, professionally, personally, and spiritually. Their advice, guidance, and honest feedback helped shape the leader I am today.
And finally, I want to recognize the community itself. Every client, every partner, every family we’ve worked with has contributed to our growth. Their trust motivates me every day to do this work with integrity, empathy, and excellence.
I wouldn’t be where I am without these incredible people, and I’m deeply grateful for each one of them.
