We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Svetlik De La Rosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was I wanted to make a name for myself because I had so many things to offer. My family members all had started their own businesses and had made a name for themselves in the communities but I had bigger dreams and goals and wanted to showcase my talents and gifts on a global platform. My own experiences assisted me in being able to empower other women and in turn I wanted to create a platform for their voices. Using these women’s stories and their art, all of us as women share our stories as art. We are able to utilize our stories as our own platforms to inspire others and teach others. It’s being able to have a voice in sharing those experiences along the way to assist others in their growth and journey. I always say it’s never too late to follow your dreams and start your own business. Once you start, don’t beat yourself up about it because you will learn as you grow. It’s a journey of self discovery.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art was building my brand. I have built De La Rosa Insurance Firm from the ground up. I was #1 in Small Business in Pearland in 2019 and 2020. I grew my social media platforms to over 3M collectively. I also was able to share others art through their stories on my blog and in my book. What sets me apart is my authenticity and the ability to engage and network and keep my audience entertained. I am most proud and excited about what the future holds because there are unlimited possibilities out there. I am excited I was able to build my brand through a difficult time in my life. It wasn’t easy to build myself to where I am today professionally because it was a journey of trial and error, failing, coming close, starting, stopping. I overcame my challenges by learning through the mistakes and not being afraid to take the risks. The lessons I have learned along the way are to keep moving and don’t cry over spilt milk. Make a decision and go! I spent too many years being a perfectionist and then I procrastinated and didn’t do anything. I learned to not be over critical but to let it flow and build no matter what adversity or block gets in my way. I want the world to know I am here to guide and teach others how to continue to fuel their creative sides and stop the distractions to allow them to go to the next level. I want to help people build and show them that the mindfulness and meditation practices I have incorporated over the years, have assisted me in being more clear of my direction of my brand. I can then assist, by guiding them and being that container so they can navigate through different steps on their journey. Most people don’t want to take the risk, but since I have done it, I can encourage others that they can too.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Rice Village and shop and eat and enjoy the atmosphere. I would take them first to Neiman Marcus’s because they have everything there. They have food to eat right in the store and we can shop and get a makeover. Houston has the most amazing restaurants like Grotto’s on Westheimer. There is Tiny Box Wood as well which is a great place to eat and there is a nursery with a garden section and a boutique which has a great little area to view as well. I would also take them to Highland Village to shop. Houston is just a beautiful area and there are so many beautiful homes as well. We love looking at beautiful homes.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s so difficult to choose just one individual. I want to thank all of the ladies who I interviewed over the years for my blog and book because of them sharing their stories it has helped in my growth and journey. I want to thank my family for putting up with all the craziness they have had to deal with of me being an entrepreneur and a creative. I want to thank my daughter Hannah De La Rosa because I grow with her. I also want to thank my Publicist Alli Rodriguez for helping me along my journey. Everyone has been helpful in supporting me through myself discovery because we all grow together.
