Meet Anthony Caceres | Singer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Caceres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Even though I came from a musical family that was famous, It was the music of Earth Wind & Fire that moved me to be where I am at today. I was inspired by there singing and music and that has molded me into the musician I am today. without ever discovering them I would have never been a musical artist today. Being a musical artist allows me to be free and to express my feelings and emotions through music. I would say that I took after my Grandfather Jazz Violinist Emilio Caceres, all he did was eat, sleep and dream of music. I am the same way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a professional jazz singer and musician. The thing that sets me apart from others is I don’t give up, when there are obstacles in front of me I always find a way of coming back and pushing through. I am also very consistent in what I do which is why I have been able to perform at the same venue Eddie Vs City Centre & West Ave locations now for 13 years. I am most proud of being able to record my own Albums Somethings Gotta Give and the soon to be released Let’s Take a Trip this fall with some of my own compositions. I am even more proud to influence my oldest son Anthony “Ant” Caceres to play drums with me, and he is only 9 years old and hoping to do the same with my youngest son Sebastian Caceres. I am also very proud that I was able to learn how to sing and play piano the last few years which is something I never imagined I attended one of the best music schools in the world as a jazz bassist at the University of North Texas and was a late bloomer pursuing music in my late 20s after a military obligation in the US Navy. It was not an easy road in the beginning pursuing a career in music. I had some help in the beginning in college, but paid for most of my college education on my own. I over came challenges by just sticking to my passion of music and never giving up. I never forget how hard it was in the beginning so even things have gotten easier I keep the same mindset always. I would like everyone know that I am not just a jazz musician, but sing other styles of music and I always expect to deliver a top tier performance on every performance no matter what. I am not cliche and don’t sound like anyone I sound like me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a Dad and working all the time I rarely have time to go out anywhere so when I do I like to keep things simple. I am a Starbucks Snob, so I would start my day off with a Venti Blonde Coffee first lol! Have breakfast at Tamales Don Pepe go shopping at the Galleria mall and hit up the Robert Graham store when there is a sale! For dinner I would go out to eat at Eddie Vs and have the bone in ribeye or Filet. I would hang out at the Maple Leaf Pub for a night cap. I enjoy the excitement of the crowd when there are games played, I also enjoy the silence late at night when things have died down. I recently discovered laser tag, that is a lot of fun definitely some games of that. Also, a night of bowling would be in store with my kids. If you have a favorite band I really like the sound and acoustics of the Smart Financial Center.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are 2 people whose support helped me to where I am at today. My father Emilio Caceres Jr., taught me how to always work hard and to never be lazy. I learned a lot about the music business ups and downs and Angel Bermudez of Angelucho’s Copacabana Band always believed in me helped me and helped me persevere through the good and ugly side of the music business.
