We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony & Josefina Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anthony & Josefina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Our thought process involved us having a desire to be able to pour out what God had poured into us. We wanted to be a light and an inspiration to as many people as we could. There were times when some of our team couldn’t afford clothes. Now we are making our own! Look at God!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The name of our organization is Kingdom Talk! We are an outreach ministry that strives to show the love of God across the world. We do this by giving back to the community in various ways. We do events like Summer Jam which is a school supply drive in which kids of all ages receive school supplies, haircuts, hairstyles, food and so much more! All for free! We also feed the homeless, assist the elderly, do Turkey Drive’s, and Christmas giveaways. We call them “Pop Up of Love”. One time we partnered with a restaurant in the community and offered a free meal for everyone who came, regardless of age. Hundreds of people came and a lot of them gave testimonies about how they just needed someone to show them some love. Some said that they didn’t know how they were going to feed their kids. We paid for everyone’s meal and the owner of the restaurant told us that he has never been that busy or made that much money in a day. Just being able to help spread love brings us the greatest joy! Our motto is “Blessed to Bless”. One of the things that set us apart is we offer prayer and impartation at these events. It is not forced but it is available for those who desire it. Often times the Prayer Line is longer than the line to get food and gifts! It’s amazing how God works. A lot of our work is done behind the scenes and that goes to show that we truly do it from the heart. Many people on our team know what it’s like to go without and to need a hand. We strive to be that beacon of light that someone can see that there is yet hope.
Some of the lessons we have learned a long the way is to always remain humble. Never look down on anyone else. Also to rid ourselves free of someone else’s opinion. If we valued everyone’s opinion then many lives wouldn’t have been impacted in a positive manner. We listen to God and operate in complete obedience to Him. When He tells us to move then we move. Sometimes the vision can seem blurred in the natural but God is supernatural. Our obedience always brings forth provision and victory.
What I want the world to know is that it doesn’t much to do a lot. You don’t need a stage nor a microphone to make an impact. If it’s in your heart to do, to build, to accomplish then put it in God’s hands and let Him do the rest. God will place you in regions of favor! It might appear small but God will add increase! We believed in the vision God gave us and held on to it. We make and design shirts, backpacks, headbands, and all types of clothing and things. To be honest with you, the amount of profit we make does not allow us to do the things we do. However; where there is a God there is a way! He has blessed us to be able to meet the needs of others and placed it on people’s heart to connect with us! We just want to give God all of the glory! We aren’t people who have had clean backgrounds our entire life. We come from poverty, crime, and tough upbringings. However God can use anyone who is willing! Man may not qualify you but God has!
Kingdom Talk is the name of our organization and it means so much to us. There is no separation based off of color, gender, and/or beliefs. We love everyone and strive to live out that love. We really walk it like we talk it and talk what we walk! From the streets to the church, to the schools, and various other places; we come to announce the good news of the Kingdom!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Houston, I am a big fan of the Breakfast Klub! The food there is amazing and always fresh! You can not go wrong there! Also Killen’s Steakhouse has the best steaks! For a more cultural feel I would definitely say Timmy Chan’s (pronounced Chimmy Chan’s lol). Some call it “ghetto grub” but it definitely corelates with the culture. The best two are the ones located on MLK and 610 and the other one is on Cullen and Reed. *Cash only* You have to get the Kool-Aid as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely we have to give it up to God! We would like to shoutout our children and our family! Shoutout Joseph and Sable Petry of One Flesh Creations, Jessie and Keandra Upson of Ignited Swag, Shunte Gamble with Mixed Talk Media, and Albret and Lashanda Gary of Dream Build Success!
