We had the good fortune of connecting with Aranza Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aranza, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want to be remembered as someone who made it out of poverty. I want to inspire others with the same story and background as me.
I want someone to see me and be able to think “if she did it, I can do it also”
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well it definitely has not been an easy ride. I want others to see themselves in me and that includes the struggle- I try to be as real and authentic as possible about someone living in the same situation as me, which is…. being a survivor of child abuse, poverty, mental health problems, being a first generation woman. etc. All of the raw ugliness that comes in “the come up”
I want people to witness me coming from absolutely nothing and going all the way to the top
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the beach, the library, a local coffee spot- like my job where we bake everything from scratch & with love, but most definitely the beach
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family as always. Everything I do is for them. My mom especially- she is the person I look up to the most. She has all her ducks lined up in a row.
My brother has made all of us proud since he left home to enlist in the USA Navy at 18 years old- he told me the other day he was awarded with 5 medals already. He is awesome.
My strong sister, she got pregnant as a teenager and is currently in school to be a child therapist.
And my two younger brothers of course, theyre sweethearts.
My dad who had given me every single thing with all of his hard work. I hope he can live long enough for me to be able to retire him one day.
