Meet Areli Dozal | Top 40 under 40 Realtor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Areli Dozal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Areli, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work/life balance has changed drastically over the last 8 years.
When I first started I would do anything and everything to get a client. Money was so important to me that I wanted to sacrifice anything to have it. Everyone knew me as a workaholic… I was the person who showed up to parties with a laptop. My friends still bring it up from time to time.
Now I want to live more than I want to work. That doesn’t mean my clients aren’t going to get the best care, it just means that I now delegate things so I can live a more fulfilled personal life. I love the balance I have now and it’s made me a happier person.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
If you look me up on HAR I have a 5 star rating. This means that every single client who has rated me really enjoyed the time we shared together.. I think what sets me apart from others is that my clients become family. I’ve had clients that have called years later wanting to sell a house they purchased with me, and have admitted a family member got their license but they still want to work with me. I’ll attend any event my clients invite me to and eventually I end up feeling like I’m a part of their family! When I decided to pursue this career path I promised myself I would treat everyone the way I would want them to treat my mom, (she didn’t get great treatment when she bought her house) and that’s exactly what I’ve done.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first place I would take them to would be Pizzeria Solario, then I would take them to one of my favorite improv places called Comedy Sportz and to end the night Neil’s Bahr for some drinks and possible karaoke.
The rest of the week would be filled with several nights in our theater district, which has some of the best Opera, symphonies, and Broadway in the US.
-China town for food, a massage, and desserts.
-I would take them on a Segway tour of downtown and while there we would sample food from a couple of the food halls
-dancing at Fabian’s
-dancing in Montrose
-food evenings would include MAD, Flora for outdoor scenery, Korean bbq at Honey Pig and some smaller mom and pop hole in the wall places in East houston.
Saturday brunch would be the buffet at Hugo’s.
Montrose for Sunday Brunch
-A visit to the gorgeous Maryam Islamic Palace in Sugarland
-A few nice walks at the Arboretum in Memorial and the houston botanical gardens.
And if there’s time left we’d go to a special exhibit at the Museum and/or NASA.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Hands down my mom! I really wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for her love and support. I also want to thank my colleague Aldridge Jack for nominating me for the top 40 under 40 realtors award. He saw how hard I was working, and how passionate I was, and because of his nomination I went on to apply for the award and ultimately get recognized for it.
