We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Glaze and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work life balance has changed so much, especially during this pandemic. I’ve realized that I need much more time for self care than usual, and realized areas in my life where I neglected my self care. Now, I do check ins with myself to meditate in the morning, afternoon and at night in order to regain focus, stay positive and intentional with my thoughts and my work day.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an LPC in private practice now, and I still do mental health, beauty and lifestyle videos. Finding the balance has been the challenge, but I’m so excited every day to live out my passion in so many ways. So private practice is new for me, as I have worked for an agency full time and still do, and now I added private practice into the mix, which was a struggle at first to find a balance. Time management and a good work ethic is the only way I can stay present with everything I do! This was my biggest lesson to learn and accomplish. When I don’t use my time properly, some area will not be as successful. I want the world to know that you CAN have it all, a profession, a good work life balance, and be happy and not stressed. There is 100% a way to make it work, and it looks different for everyone. Find a good support system and mentor, and stay focused on your goals based on your personal niche. Make it work for you! Work smarter not harder.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston has some of the absolute best views! My favorite parts of town are the river oaks area, Montrose and downtown, as well as city centre. I’d take them for dinner at Toulouse, drinks at Bisou, and visit/hang out by walking around downtown or Montrose area, and then for another day, hang out around city centre and take a relaxing bike ride. Movies at iPic or studio movie grill would be so much fun too. The museums in Houston are the absolute best! The museum of natural science is one that everyone should see!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My support system deserves a shout out! I have the absolute most supportive family and friends circle, and I definitely would not have as much success without them cheering me on along my journey. They believed in me when I struggled to see the end goal. So thankful for them.
