We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Vargas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Aryce Designs came from my creativity side and also behind my skills in Interior Design. When I finished with my Bachelors Degree from AIH with ID, companies were not hiring at the moment so I had to think on how to show my talent and how to express it. In 2010, I started it, but wasn’t fully ready to pursue it due to becoming a new mom and trying to figure out life after college. When I started doing small decorations for colleagues for my current company I work for in 2018, this made me realize that I was ready to start full time and expand with what was really for me and what brought me to complete happiness by making others feel what I created for them.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Aryce Designs is customized for every client. We have clients that see one of our creations that we had been done previously, however, we will replicate the image but it will not be exactly the same. I have always been a person that if I see one of my friends that has something intriguing that I want, I usually end up with it as well. So by this, I wanted to make my business was personalized for each and every individual that invited us to do an event for them. Getting here was not difficult but it wasn’t easy either. The most important thing I can say is if you have someone that will be by your side that knows business and that has insight on how to make you expand with the right path, do it! It will make a lot of road blocks a lot easier as challenges will come about in the years to come. We aren’t perfect and we have made mistakes, but they are lessons to make us better going forward.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston Tx is huge and growing by the minute. I have one of my best friends that moved to LA about 4 years ago so when she’s in town, we make the best of it by hitting up our favorite spots she cannot get anymore and catching up with all of our friends. As I am getting older, I am catching myself into more networking events and how to grow my business. So low key, I love coffee shops! Shout out to Tout Suite and Agora! Covid has made “normal life” a little different with more of a twist, so I love having a small group of friends over for a kickback at my house munching on charcuterie boards and homemade food. Honestly, if I had to choose places, I absolutely love the Zoo and MFA. I could go on with a list of many different places but it can go on forever and ever!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many of my friends, which some of them happen to be apart of the Aryce Team that have helped and supported me since day 1. I am forever grateful for them as they are here every single day with assistance. Most importantly, Chris Mitchell who is literally my rock for everything. Since he is an entrepreneur himself, he saw how much joy my creations brought me, so he pushed me to my limits to get me where we are at today even when I was questioning it or had my doubts with this. Last but not least, my parents! As being their daughter and them seeing all of my achievements and struggles through life, they knew I was very serious about Aryce, especially since my son was old enough now to understand that we should never give up on our dreams.
